Title: Omega Supreme
Artist: Shockwave
Review:
Another Excellent CD, much like the Doxology by xDisiciplex. In this CD, you are given a new track titled “Bruticus”. Bruticus is track number 1 on this album. I do say, this is the perfect song to start it off. The first words you hear Callahan (Dave Quiggle) scream is “transform!”, the CD takes off from there. Omega Supreme takes you through all of the songs that Shockwave has ever released, starting with latest, Autohate and Shockwave, to the earliest songs, such as Buzzsaw and Ironhide. All of these songs, of course, are great (well, duh, it’s Shockwave). One major plus is the band finally putting the Warpath 7” on CD. It is so much easier to listen to know, instead of having to put in a tape and rewind it and crap. In my personal opinion, those 4 songs are the best songs ever released by the band, so that’s great. It is also a great convenience just not having to change CD’s when you want to listen to more shockwave, just let it play through.
I would probably have to give this CD a 10 out of 10, it is a great masterpiece and Shockwave never ceases to amaze me.

Title:Doxology
Artist:XDISCIPLEX A.D.
Review:
I believe this CD has all the elements to be the perfect thing to listen to. I have been a fan of xdisciplex (the name sticks, sorry) for I believe 2 years. I know, I know, not long. When I first heard this band, I was truly amazed, and this CD seems to amaze me once again.
The CD starts with the Track, “Two Faced”. This track is originally found on the goodlife version of No Blood, No Altar Now. The next track on the CD is Age of Reason. This is a song many of us heard more recently on the album “Heaven & Hell”. I especially liked this song for the part in which there is actual singing. It is always cool when u take a break from the screaming to sing a little. The next track on the CD happens to be one of my favorite songs on their first full-length, “imitation of love”. One thing I didn’t like about it, though, was the part in which Dave Quiggle was to come in on the vocals, but instead Dan continues. I like variety, and I was expecting to hear some. Same thing on Heart Strings Broken. Davey, where were ya man?
To continue... They decided to add 2 of their shorter albums to the CD. One of which was their 7”, “Scarab”. This was a bonus, for now 2 songs that were many peoples’ favorites were finally put onto CD instead of tape. Those 2 songs are Trial by Fire and Scarab. I especially enjoyed the little extra song there, “Deadwrong”. I knew nothing of that song when I first heard it, so when mike ski jumped in there on vocals I was surprised. It sounded excellent. the second album they put on the doxology is “Lantern”. Lantern was xdisciplex’s first album released, then was later reprinted and revised after Scarab was released. What more can I say about that part of the Doxology, starting with baregrounds and ending with Held Accountable... all great songs.
2 tracks never before heard by xdisciplex fans were placed on the album. Those tracks are “vital indecision” which is a cover song, and “baregrounds live ‘96”. vital indecision is an excellent song and the way xdisciplex plays it, is as if they accepted it as their own. As for Baregrounds live... well.... HECK! What more can I say. One of the greatest xdisciplex songs ever written and they do it live. it is excellent. Makes u think u are actually at the show
To sum it all up, I give this CD a 9 out of 10. there were it’s rough spots that many people didn’t like, but most of it pulled through perfect. It is another album to go into the collection and to go down in time.

Title: s/t demo
Artist: Closer Than Dying
Review:
Awesome. That's all there is to it. This demo is awesome. I only wish there was more to it. It's 3 songs of metal influenced hardcore. It has been awhile since I have seen a good spirit-filled band like this arrise on the scene. Jon Beckman's vocals are awesome, not too screechy, not to growly. And the music is as tight as it can get. I have nothing but good things to say about Closer Than Dying. If you have not heard them, check out the show april 26th at the hangout, or email jon beckman at closerthandying@angelfire.com and talk to him about getting a demo. You should not be missing out on this.
Until Next Time...

Title: Now Your Playing With Power

Review:
Well...I have mixed feelings over this album. I'd say half of it
is indeed "high pitched noise and a toothache", and the other
half is kinda rocking. It's only got 4 songs on it, but it was
given to me for free, so it's definitely worth the money! I find
the music to be pretty good, but a bit too long. They've got
songs on here 5 or 6 minutes long. If your going to have a 5 or 6
minute long hardcore song, it had better be REALLY good, you know
what I mean? These songs aren't horrible, but they aren't the
kind I want to hear for 5 or 6 minutes. Also, I find it hard to
understand the lyrics even during the spoken or sung parts. The
girl has a very nice voice though, if you ask me. The guy singer
ain't as good, but he's better than me so I shouldn't complain!
The recording quality is pretty good on this, so that's a plus
right there. I think I'd say I like it, it's a little different,
good guitar, just a bit too long. It's not my favorite CD, but
it's worth throwing in the 'ol "boombox" every now and then. I'd
suggest it for anyone looking for a local band that's a little
bit different.
Until next time...
