Whether it was the ghost of J.P. or the forgotten spirits of the native people protecting there sacred land, we felt glad when we stepped on to the ferry to head home. We were glad to have gotten the chance to investigate even if it didnt turn out the way we were expecting it to! SPECIAL THANKS to Big Daddy C, the lovely Julie, Jon and "Count Sackula" and Don...who probably saw our butt cracks more that week than our own mother's have! -P.S And a shout out to our BUDDY Smelly Melly! |

So we decided to head back to the tents and stay in one spot, hoping that perhaps the spirits would come to us. Nicole's pendulum was picking up high energy, spinning wildly and spuraticly in all directions. The woods surrounding the Lighthouse are rumored to have once been sacred grounds for the native peoples. The lighthouse keeper had previously mentioned that local people had been known to leave mojo bags and other charms hanging off the door handle and on the actual stone itself. As we were getting ready to enter the tent I (Dana) noticed a few feet away two crossed spoons partially buried in the dirt. At the time I couldn't remember the signifigance of this, only that I had remembered reading it in a book. |

The energy throughout the actual grounds of the lighthouse was quite different than the sensations felt in the actual lighthouse. The structure is surrounded by a thick brush which stretches back along a path to where we had set up camp for the night. As we descended the last of the wooden stairs and made our way through the exit a light fog had begun creeping out of the surrounding trees and brush. It was just about this time that pretty much every member of the team began experiencing different strange sensations. Jen was quiet, solemn and sad, where as Nicole felt nervous and light headed. I myself could not shake the strange feeling for a few hours and at some points actually felt quite dizzy and nautious, but again we felt that the spirit of J.P. Rattamuller had avaided us. As we performed our ground investigation we left the audio recorder at the very top of the lighthouse quite close to the thirteenth step to record any sounds. |

We took a quick break before beginning the actual ground investigation, Corrie snapped this picture of Don surrounded by orbs on the front landing. The group began becoming frustrated, there was definitely something 'ghostly' there but everytime we went in search of it, it seemed to move away. We were capturing orbs and were experiencing strange smells and sounds in the woods around us. But hey this was the woods of course there was gonna be strange sounds and smells. |
Nicole later did some research and found out that it was a slightly common thing found at some sacred grounds and that it was a good luck charm. Good thing too, cause I actually didn't spot them, I clumsily kicked them over and then proceeded to stand on them. I was quite relieved when I found out what they had been there for, knocking piles of stuff over in the woods is just a bit reminiscent of a 'lost in the woods' movie I'm sure you're all familiar with. The ghost of J.P. was a sttuborn one and one that seemed to not like leaving the comforts of his lighthouse. |
Much of the night was spent in search of the ghost of J.P. and trying to elude that draining spirit energy that at times we felt was hunting us one by one. At around two o'clock in the morning we called the hunt off and piled into the bus to get some rest, but as you can see (in the shot of Nicole sleeping) the spirit energy seemed to follow us. The next morning the audio tape revealed some strange breathing and a few times it actually sounded like someone was handling the mic. All and all I think we were glad when it came time to pack up and head off. There have been times on ghost hunts when each of us have felt envaded or overwhelmed but I personally think we walked away from Gibraltar with much more emotional proof than physical. |
The infamous Jen scared crapless in the tent shot! |
