Pictures from the The Tower
The Tower was built in 1925 to 1926 by William Langton and serves as a memorial for Kitchener's first settlers, the German Mennonites. The cemetery situated beside the tower is Waterloo Region's oldest cemetery. The hidden jagged cliff, which is a mere 5 feet from the cemetery, was surely a cause for many deaths. The area was used as a lookout, from the top of the tower you have the advantage of seeing around the Grand River's many bends. The height from the tower helped them protect their land from enemies passing by. The cemetery itself is filled with the graves of many young children, as anything as simple as a cold could become fatal.
The Tower definitely has a historical feeling, you can almost feel the paranormal activity in the air. There are noises that seem to whisper from the woods surrounding the tower. There is always a sensation that you are being watched from the towering memorial. The small family grave site has always been a hot spot for us. Spirit mist and EVP's have been captured and recorded in this very area.
There is always an eerie feeling when we approach the Tower from the dirt road that leads up to the entrance. Almost the feeling that they are investigating us as much as were investigating them! Scroll down for pictures taken at the Tower.
