 WHEN: Sat. Sept. 20th, 2003. Immediately following The final HS race (~2:30pm)WHERE: The race will be run on infamous 2.7 mile high school course (see map below)WHO: Open to ALL runners 18 & older. You do NOT have to be a Guiderland grad to run.HOW: Small $10 registration fee.WHY: Awards will be given in the following categories:-->Top 3 Men & Women overall -->Top Male and Female XC Coach -->Top 3 Teams (Comprised of 3 individuals, male or female, from the same school, any year) -->"Middle-of-the-Pack" Award (Median Runner) -->"Never Say Die" Award (for the Eldest Runner) -->The team with the best uniform will also receive a prize. Don't forget the best prize of them all: re-living high school XC!!! |
MISSION: |
There is a dual purpose for introducing an Alumni Race at this years Guilderland Invitational. Our foremost goal is to re-connect former high school runners with the high school cross-country experience and re-establish the important relationship between the alumnus and the alma mater. Secondly, we are also hoping to create a unique competition where club allegiance, gender and/or age groups bear little competitive advantage. Instead, high school cross-country programs are tested on their ability to foster spirited individuals for life. |
