Glenda Martin-Shirley has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and is currently an Adjunct Studio Instructor for the Humanities Division at Richland College in Dallas, Texas and an Associate Professor of Fine Arts at Collin County Community College in McKinney, Texas. She served one and a half years as Adjunct Studio Instructor for the Visual Arts Department at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas.

Ms. Martin-Shirley has an extensive teaching and exhibition history. Prior to her current academic appointments, she taught numerous drawing and painting workshops over the past 12 years at various locations in the Denton area. Some of the locations include UNT, the Center for Visual Arts, Light in the Window Studio in Denton, and ArtHouse in Flower Mound.

Her exhibition record includes four solo exhibitions, numerous group and juried exhibitions in the North Texas region. Ms. Martin-Shirley's work has also been exhibited in Europe.

Unsheltered Lives Installation

 In addition to her studio work and teaching, Ms. Martin-Shirley is founder and organizer of a professional artist's coalition based in North Texas. The organization, Balance was created shortly following graduation from graduate school. Balance has participated in the nation-wide juried outdoor installation event, Wide Awake, and has held 4 gallery exhibitions of members' work. The coalition began as a small group of friends and has now grown to include professional artists across North Texas.
