I've been looking for older Barky threads, and it would seem that some of them, sadly, are gone from TrekBBS. I was wondering if anyone has these threads saved somewhere:Responses to "the moon post" (if any). TOS Forum: "The Excelsior" ENT Forum: "Saving the cloaks with continuity," "Why is Trip the chief Engineer," "The Axanareans" TNZ: "Lego has no blacks!," My Job is not Fair to Me," Pee Wee Herman," Wynona Ryder was arrested!," Victoria's Secret," James Forestall didn't kill himself," "They won't let me order a gun," "How can I post safly from work" Misc: "Star Wars Legos they should make," "Pocket Heroes" QS&F: "This is not write at all" If you happen to have them, please contact me at gbutler@altavista.com . If you know of a site that archives them, please post a link here. Thank you. [This message has been edited by glenniebun (edited February 04, 2002).]

Has anyone ever tried to e-mail MajorBarcalow directly?I would imagine that must be like dropping a quarter into a slot machine. You don't know what you're going to get.

I think the Major gained access to the archives and deleted them. Either that, or he bribed either Christian or Lisa to delete them! Too bad- good entertainment is so hard to come by...

Here's a little fact I never see anyone bring up in all the Barky threads I've read and if they have, I guessed I missed it. Does anyone remember Barky's first name? He posted it once in a thread that hit 100 posts and was shut down.

Unfortunately thr threads don't work as the threads on the Trekbbs have been archived. I do have some of the threads saved but as I am rather too busy of late to look after the fan-club that much. Besides I have had some information about just who Barky really is and it doesn't please me that much. I won't say who however as I am not 100% certain and the proof is only circumstantial.

The only way to prevent this from happening is to continue to "bump" Barky's current threads so they never die. However, I must admit I am VERY intriguied by this "info" that Miss Chicken and others have come upon. If anyone wants to share....feel free to drop me a line.......

Yeah what's the "info" on Barky that has everyone so down?(I'm kind of curious on the VS thread, and what that was all about.) Hmmm Come to think the Major hasn't been around for a while. Maybe he got bored with us. EDIT: Nevermind he has a new thread, just appeared over in TNZ... Something about Single's Night. [This message has been edited by Treker4747 (edited February 08, 2002).]

Umm.... no way a native speaker of English could come up with that "certain style." Those kinds of mistakes and grammatical errors are really tough to do - and nearly impossible when there are lotsa people with linguistic ability around (like on this board). But, hey! We know The Good Major is puttin' us on. We don't care! It's jolly good entertainment! ------------------ Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to return to my bucket.

I have been told that when MB first started posting in the Enterprise forum that his style was quite different i.e. normal (though he still had far out ideas). Unfortunately these posts disappeared in the Enterprise purge Speaking to several people who speak English as a second language they have told me they do not get words such as right/write mixed up (like MB does). This is because they tend to learn words by sight rather than by sound. Most none-English people on this board have good to reasonable spelling. The major does not have a learning problem either. I am pretty certain of that. I am the mother of two adult sons with learning disabilities and have known many other people over the years with learning difficulties because of my involvement in special education. The major is simply putting it on. If youant to find out who the major really is I suggest you start looking under bridges [This message has been edited by Miss Chicken (edited February 10, 2002).]

So now that you realise that Major Barcalow was pretending to be backward.a lot of you are now losing interest, too busy to update the web site and the sarcastic marriage proposals withdrawn. All those insults rendered meaningless. To take the piss out of some one you thought was backward was OUT OF ORDER. Who's laughing now.[This message has been edited by johnw (edited February 10, 2002).]

^ Not at all. Most were taking the piss because they were sure he was a fake - but he was an amusing fake. Some of us thought for a time that there was a chance he could be real - and those who did give him the benefit of the doubt didn't start teasing him until he convinced us that he was a brilliant put-on.Things started cooling down becuase the act was running out of steam, and now MC is suggesting that the real identity of the Barcaloner is someone not well liked under another name. That makes it a little less palatable.

I was the first to realize and publicly announce that Major Barcalowe's routine was an act. In fact, long ago, I put forth the idea that he was a "sanctioned" troll allowed to operate by the administration of this board. It would not surprise me that the administration is also aware of his true identity.1. The MB posts rang false from the beginning yet he was never taken to task for trolling. They were false posts intended to provoke a response, the very definition of trolling. 2. The MB posts, while obviously false, were fairly benign and inoffensive. Some found them amusing and so this may be why the administration looked the other way when MB trolled and when he was being trolled and very blatantly flamed. 3. MB's threads were unofficial trolling free zones where posters including MB himself were unofficially allowed to vent their trolling and flaming tendencies thereby diverting these activities from other boards. 4. If the powers that be wanted to get rid of MB they would havve done so a long time ago. Other members have been kicked out with no evidence put forth. This is a private board and no evidence needs to be shown. MB, however, was popular and fun and so the administrators did not dare do this. 5. What does this mean for the Major Barcalowe Fan Club board? 6. Why hasn't his identity been posted at the MB discussion board? There is a forum for this very purpose there. 7. Notice how threads dealing with MB were almost immediately closed around here and yet this one is allowed to run wild. Perhaps the administration is aware that there sanctioned troll wrangler is running out of gas.

I previous stated that I thought that MB was a 'respectable' member using another name. I was willing to accept that as he was funny. However as I have been given good reason to believe that the Major is a particular person I have lost interest in him as I do not like that particular person. I therefore have given up on the fansite but I won't delete it in case the evidence in wrong. If the Major, or someone else, can prove to me that MB isn't really the nasty troll I think he is I will start the fanclub up again.
