"Three Looks" (Sunday Leadership Breakfast)

The leadership breakfast is the last official event of every District Conference. It's an opportunity for the leadership to gather for one final bit of education, camaraderie, and maybe share a laugh or two. This fall, George Self will lead us as we take "Three looks" at our Toastmaster experiences.

First, we'll look back at what we learned in this conference. Next, we'll look inside at how we can apply to our own lives what we learned here. Finally, we'll look forward to how we can apply those lessons by sharing them with our local clubs. You are welcomed to come share a few minutes with our District Leadership as we take one last look at our conference.

George Self was born and raised in a small town in mid Missouri. He recently retired after 20 years service in the United States Army where he served as both medic and electronics equipment repairman in Massachusetts, Germany, Hawaii, and Arizona. He earned a number of awards and decorations in the Army, but the one which makes him proudest is the Expert Field Medical Badge he earned for his skill as a field medic. Along the way he was assigned other duties as Drill Sergeant, electronics technology instructor, and soldier leader.

George has both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education and is currently enrolled in the University of Arizona's Higher Education Ph.D. program. He works for the University of Arizona writing computer programs to help deliver language training over the Internet. He also teaches several college classes at both Cochise College and the University of Arizona. George is married and has three children and one granddaughter. His wife is a Corrections Officer for the state of Arizona and enjoys traveling throughout the state whenever she gets time off.. George has been in Toastmasters about four years. He has earned two CTMs, ATM Bronze and CL . His goals are to complete his degree, teach at a college or university and, of course, continue speaking in public anywhere he can find a crowd gathered.
