| The caption reads: "This last photograph of Grand Island's Leonard DeGlopper was taken on Memorial Day, 1957, as he knelt at the side of his youngest son's grave in Maple Grove Cemetery. Charles N. DeGlopper, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, was returned from an American cemetery in Europe that he might lie in the earth of his homeland. Public services will be held at the memorial site bearing his name at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29, when Island men, fallen in battle, will be honored for the sacrifice." |
