4. Friday Night Ski-O Considerations

Weston Ski Track normally has up to 5 K of lighted loops, with about 2.5 in their snow-making zone.  However, our competition will occur after normal closing time and the lights will be turned off.  There are a number of obstacles including fences, raised snow-making pipes, trees, lighting standards, sand traps, and driving range tees.  All competitors must carry a personal light, preferably a headlight.  It is recommended but not mandatory that a backup light also be carried.

5. Championship Scoring

A minimum of two of the three events must be entered to be eligible for the Eastern Region Championship.  The afternoon sprint ski-o at Gunstock is not included in the Championship.  Points will be awarded as follows:

1st place – 15 points

2nd place – 12 points

3rd place – 10 points

4th place – 8 points

5th place – 6 points

6th place – 4 points

7th place – 3 points

8th place – 2 points

All other finishers – 1 point

6. Embargos

A limited warm up/wax test area will be designated at each venue on the day of event.  Otherwise the three venues are closed to any entry by competitors beginning Thursday February 14.

7. Entry Fees

We are keeping entry fees as low as possible but do need to cover the cost of trail passes.  At both Gunstock and Windblown the trail pass will be valid for the rest of the day.

Significant savings can be achieved through pre-registration by entering all three events.

Fees:

Basic entry (including trail pass)   $25

Late registration (after 2/14/08)  $5 per event

Discounts:

Early registration (entry form and check post-marked by 2/9/08) save $5 per event

Enter all three events save $10

Examples:

            Enter all three prior to 2/9/08 = $50   (3x $25 -3x $5 - $10)

            Enter just one on day of event = $30   ($25 + $5)

There will be a 100% refund for any event canceled for lack of snow.

9. Driving Directions

Please see the web sites for each venue that are listed in section 1.

10. Lodging

There are numerous choices along the travel corridor between Nashua, NH and Concord, NH.  Any of these would minimize driving distance and allow lodging at the same site both Friday and Saturday nights.

11. Airline Travel

The most central airport would be Manchester (MHT) and the next best is Boston (BOS).
