HOW THE HECK DO I MAKE A TUTU?!?!
This is the tutu I made for my Yr 11 Textiles Project (when I was 16). I drafted almost the entire thing from scratch (I modified a bodice pattern and a panty pattern, and that was it) and decorated it myself as well.

It has a rose-coloured bodice, with a gold mesh layer on the front "V" shaped piece. The bodice is actually two layers of the shot rose organza, with a layer of cream Duchess Satin to ensure that it's not sheer. The bodice was also fully lined (no boning though).

Those "frilly things" you can see are all ribbon roses (which I made individually by hand) that have a ruched green ribbon around it to bulk it up and add "foliage". The skirt was made of cream tulle, and the larger petals were of the shot rose-coloured polyester organza I used for the bodice. The smaller petals are of the gold mesh sitting on top of the larger rose petals.

The entire thing is a modified replica of a tutu I'd seen on dance.net (I added the gold mesh layer, and changed the neckline). I can't find the picture (this was a long, long time ago) but when I do, I'll post it here for you.
I'm sure that tutu-making is incredibly easy for some - who have done it a million times before, have a pre-drafted pattern and all materials handy - but for the rest of us it's a pain in the butt. I can't draft your pattern for you, but I can give you an idea of where to start. Please also bear in mind that I'm not a professional dressmaker - hence, please don't sue me if your tutu doesn't work out lol - and secondly, all the information listed on this site is purely a GUIDELINE. How I did my tutu is not the only way!
I'd like to show you photos of my tutu, but since everything on the net can be stolen/copied etc, I'd really rather not see pictures of my precious tutu all over the internet. I spent at least 30 hours on the darn thing, and I'd like to avoid someone else claiming it as theirs :D

Please note that the guidelines for this website refer to proper tutus- fitted bodice and all. No leotard-with-gathered-tulle-skirt here!
