Hasbro
had a lot planned for Jem and the Holograms in 1988.
Hasbro believed that the whole Jem storyline was too
far-fetched for most kids to grasp and understand. They
believed that children couldn't relate to the storyline.
Hasbro wanted to try and dominate the whole toy line with
their Jem dolls. Well, they basically did during the
80's. Most kids wanted their Jem dolls to interact with
their other dolls. This didn't work out very well because
the Jem dolls were a little bit larger than the other
dolls. Being that there were more offered for the
"other dolls" such as playsets and accesories..
kids turned towards the other dolls. Before the whole Jem project was cancelled, Hasbro had a lot in the making for the coming year. Some of these things included a Rock'n Romance Jem, a Regin doll, an Astral doll, and dolls for The Stingers. |
Hasbro had
a new idea that would have possibly saved the whole Jem
project. They wanted to introduce Jem into the acting career. They believed that this could bring about more believable and realistic plot lines. In my opinion, I didn't see anything wrong with the whole thing they had going at the moment. But anyway, this idea never really surfaced and the whole Jem project was cancelled! |
