JMS CHOIR
ABSENCE GUIDELINES
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

1)  A signed note is not required for any reason.  If a student does not attend choir, it will be the parents' responsibility for knowing where your child is.

2)  Students will be given 5 unexcused absences for the school year for whatever reason (Dr. app., hair appt., "I forgot.", "I don't have a ride. "I don't feel good." etc., etc., etc.,).  After 5 absences, your child will no longer be a member of the choir.  (Students involved in school sponsored sports are expected to attend for part of the rehearsal if the sport meets at the same time as choir.)

3)  If your child was absent from school that day, or went home sick from school, this
WILL BE excused and NOT counted as one of the five days.

4)  If your child has a pre-arranged absence from school approved by the office, it
WILL NOT count as one of the five days.

5)  If your child misses a scheduled choir performance, it
WILL count as one of the five days.

6)
Your child must have received passing grades in all subjects (no F's) during the previous grading period, and no U's in Citizenship at any time to participate in the choir.  Failure to meet these requirements will result in ineligibility for four weeks of the next quarter.  They may remain a member during ineligibility, but may not participate in rehearsals.  Mid-term grades will then be checked for improvement and eligibility will then be determined.  Grades are very important.  Extra-curricular activities are a bonus for students who maintain satisfactory grades and citizenship.
