GLSEN-Detroit
A local chapter of
GLSEN--the Gay, Lesbian,
and Straight Education
Network.

GLSEN-Detroit works
to address the range of
discrimination--from violence to
neglect--faced by gay, lesbian,
bisexual, and transgender
students in K-12 public, parochial, and
independent schools.

WHO WE ARE and WHAT WE DO

GLSEN is the largest national organization that brings together gay and straight teachers, parents, students, and concerned citizens from all walks of life in order to end the destructive effects of
anti-gay bias in schools across the country.

As a chapter of the national organization, GLSEN-Detroit is an
all-volunteer group of professionals who are dedicated to teaching school
administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff how to address the needs of LGBT youth.

GLSEN-Detroit assists school communities and other groups
in service to LGBT youth with:

  • Community Education
  • Curriculum Presentations
  • Policy Formation
  • Staff Development
