Portis and Buck 55's Roll Thru Eastern Divison
Lakewood, California -- After the first run through the Eta Omicron Football League's Eastern Division, the Buckingham 155's find themselves undefeated. Finishing the first 5 games 4-0-1 the team is off to a fast start. Their only non victory came in their lowest scoring game of the season. "We've got lucky, but that what it takes sometimes." said Owner Greg Baker. And luck is an understatement. The 55's have wins have not all come on lopsided victories. They barely edged the Crushers by a point on a bullshit mean nothing touchdown late in the fourth quarter on Sunday night, which cost the Crushers 2 points. The next week they faced a decimated 40 oz. team who without the services of their star back, Jamal Lewis gave a tough fight; but, with over 200 all purpose yards from Clinton Portis, who came back from an injury the week before, pulled out the win.
"The team's wins have truly been a team effort, everyone contributes," stated Baker. The team has used 3 quarterbacks in their wins and has gone to its bench on numerous occasions due to injury's and bye's.
"We got a good shot at this," added Baker, "We face three of the weaker teams in the West and our team has gotten its case of he injury bug behind us." If the 155's can come out of the Interleague schedule still in first place they find themselves in a good playoff contention situation.
