This service aims to support and assist families with 'At Risk' children in crisis situations.

Granville Family Support Service assists families overcome issues affecting them.  This support is for families of any cultural background who live in the area close to Granville.  The service provides both one to one support and assitance to individual families and group activities. These group activities include parenting skills, self-esteem, communication, conflict resolution, relaxation and craft activities.  These groups are designed to support parents to expand their existing skills as well as to explore new ways of relating to their children.

The Family Support Service has a grounding philosophy that has a strong commitment to:

Empowerment of families, focusing on family strengths, skills and knowledge

The belief that families have the ability to manage their lives so as to set their own goals and take the primary role in working to achieve them

Encouragement to families to participate in the service both with their own family's involvement and with the service's

The participation of Family Support Services in the development of services that are appropriate to the needs of the disadvantaged groups in the local community

Recognising the effects of poverty and isolation on family and acting upon it through support and assistance

SERVICES FAMILY SUPPORT OFFER INCLUDE

EAPA- Energy Accounts Payment Assistance

Family Support is involved in providing assistance with electricity vouchers to families in the area.  This scheme is desinged to assist individuals and families that are financially disadvantaged and having difficulties paying their electricity accounts.  This is only an emergency relief service.  The vouchers only contribute towards the cost of the account and do not pay the whole of the billls.

PLAYGROUP

This is held at Granville Public School, Lena Street, Granville on Wednesday's at 10 am as well as noon.
