COMMUNITY WELFARE WORKER

Funded by Department of Community Services

This service provides casework on a range of issues including financial advice and budgeting.  The target group for this service is people from a culturally diverse background, disadvantaged families, women and families at risk.

The worker also arranges a variety of educational and personal development classes.  These activities greatly assist towards reducing dependence and isolation.

Casework includes:

Requests for assistance and/or information

Financial difficulties

Family problems

Accomodation

Immigration

Education

Filling out forms

Basic Counselling

Referrals

Group work is done to promote acceptance, tolerance, respect aimed at building a friendly caring environment between the participants regardless of their race, religion and culture.  From this it is hoped that each participant will develop a trusting and supportive realtionship leading to greater participation and self esteem.
