Partners...

I've gone into business, my partner and me,
I've got promise
and hope, my partner has me.
It wasn't a choice that I would hav
e made,
My partner is stubborn, I wish I could trade.

We started out young; my partner was too,
My parents said there's nothing that I couldn't do.
I believed them at first, it seemed they were right,
I had no idea it would be such a fight.

Right from the start I wanted my way,
My partner was stubborn, and didn't give way.
We both stood our ground, and braced for a fight,
My partner is complex, it wasn't quite right.

We gave and we took, we tried to be fair,
My partner has tricks, of which I was not aware.
He sits in the silence, as I gave him a glance,
I can tell he was waiting for just the right chance.

One day I felt great, I thought, "What would it hurt?"
I'll stop all of my vigilance and take off from work.
I ignored all my schedules as I walked out the door,
My partner was waiting; he wanted much more.

I learned a good lesson from my partner you see,
No matter what happens, I must care for me.
This business we have is complex with strife,
We'll always be partners, for the rest of my life.

I've gone into business, my partner and me,
I've got promise and hope, my partner is 'D'.
