Julián Patrón Airiarte - 1869 - 1934
From the 18 years old Julián Patrón Airiarte begins their commercial activity in the north coast from Colombia. Transporting yam from Cartagena toward Panamá and bringing oil of lighting from Panamá to Cartagena in wooden boats, he succeeded in getting an economical position relatively stable that he was incremented when he begin the company of marine transport of people along the Colombian north coast  between the coast populations of the one which today is the department of Córdoba and Cartagena and, more when, to the death of their parents, he received the country property Santa Bárbara de Cobeña, property of approximately 10.000 hectares located in the Gulf of Morrosquillo, to everything he goes away of the coast, and with an immense natural wealth of coconut tree and other native species, but without cattle, neither horses, neither colonists.
He went acquiring the nears earths to their already great country property until have
20.000 hectares of earth between Tolú and Coveñas, with grass of great wealth, thousand of coconut tree and possibilities without limit. Additionaly he went acquiring caws and horses until possess 40.000 cattle and hundreds horses. As a result of their continuous journeys to Panamá, he made contact with North American managers, in particular with some that they had had experience in the installation of refrigerating plants in Paraguay and Argentina, was managers of The International Products Co., and, in union with them and with cattlemen of the departments of Bolívar (that they included the one which today is Sucre and Córdoba), they conformed the Colombia Products Co., whose object was the construction of a great factory  in Coveñas for the export of meat of earning in can. So are begun and direct the history of one of the biggest and visionary companies of commencements of the XX century in Colombia, that drove to the disposition of great quantity of economical resources, humans and technicians in order to install in Coveñas, between 1919 and 1923, the gigantic refrigerating complex named then Packing House, whose principal headquarters, the immense brick red building with frames of Canadian red pine, elevators of 4 meter of side, basements, stairways in snail, glasses of security and refrigerator isolated with float of 20 centimeters of thickness, between other things, it have lasted and it has been the headquarters between 1938 and 1976 of the South American Gulf Oil Company (SAGOC), company exporter of the petroleum extracted of the Catatumbo, then of the Colombian Company of Petroleums, ECOPETROL and now headquarters of the Coveñas Naval Base.
