Summer 2001
Update
Empire, Mt.   August 2001 --- After spending the summer following up on four mineral targets in the Marysville Mining District, GMRV restaked the historic Nile Mine.

Four mineral targets were identified last winter.  All four sites were visited and evaluated this summer.  One site, the Strawberry Gold Mine was staked just days before GMRV visited the site in June.  Two other sites were looked at, but subsequently dropped after further examination.

The historic Nile Mine was the fourth site identified last winter as a good target to look at.  GMRV spent most of July and part of August sampling and reviewing historic documents on the site.  From the documents available (USGS and MBMG) and field visits, GMRV determined that the Nile Mine has not been mined out and that ore still exists below the existing workings.

Most of the mining activity had been concentrated on the east end of the property.  Field exploration and historic data infers that the vein rakes to the west, as observed at the Earthquake mine.  This would explain why the prospect pits, west of the main mine, are lower grade than the vein.

Even though the Nile has produced significant gold, silver, and lead in the past, GMRV still feel that it is under-explored and has the potential to contain at least one or two more good ore shoots with values approaching 4 opt gold.
