check out the photos of the gig
I arrived during the middle of the third song, coming from the Church gig. I was greeted at the door by the security guard saying not "can I see your ID", but "I was wondering where you were".
The Louisville Sluggers as always were very impressive, this time with new double bass player after the sad departure of the very talented Fingers. Each time I see them they have one member different from the previous occassion.
The new double bassist was good. I'm not sure if he was quite as good as Fingers - I don't think it helped matters that he tried to imitate Fingers's approach to Sluggersing, with his double bass/electric bass.
They got a fairly impressive crowd, all of whom were up and dancing rather than the often seen sitting back at the tables.
There isn't a great deal to say about the Sluggers that hasn't already been said in the first and second reviews. They're a good band.
I learnt this time around that the drummer must also be the drummer for the porkers, cos there were a lot of ska fans in the crowd requesting drum solos every few minutes. One came eventually - a fairly unimpressive one that had the right amount of boring repetitiveness to please the porkers fans.
The sluggers rendition of fever is always fun - several changes in both tempo and style throughout the course of the song.
Sluggers i always like. Was worth leaving the Church for.
