I am a Phd Student with the Stanford Exploration Project. Before coming to Stanford, I studied Applied Geophysics at Obafemi Awolowo University and Exploration Geophysics at Leeds. I am a member of SEG, SPE , AAPG , EAGE, AGU and LPS as well as Nigerian Geoscience and Petroleum organisations including NAPE and NMGS. My main research interest is Seismic Inversion. I also have interests in Seismic Imaging, Seismic Attribute Analysis, Seismic Reservoir Characterisation, Geophysical Programming and Artificial Intelligence. O.A.U... At O.A.U., I developed an Inversion Software for the Interpretation of Schlumberger Resistivity Sounding Data using Artificial Intelligence (Evolutionary Programming) for which I was awarded a first runners-up prize in the ExxonMobil/NMGS/NNPC award for Best Undergraduate Thesis in Nigeria (2005). My thesis was also presented at the 2004 NAPE-AAPG West African Regional Deepwater Conference. As part of my program at OAU, I studied aspects of Vertical Seismic Profiling [see: Theory, Interpretion and Applications of Vertical Seismic Profiling (VSP) ] with case studies from the Morgan's field (U.S), Forties field (U.K) and the Niger-Delta. AMNI... I started my oilfield career with AMNI Internation Petroleum Development Company, an indeginous oil firm. I worked a a trainee with the Production Team at AMNI. My roles include: -routine updates and analysis of production data -monitoring of daily operational activities on the MOPU -well testing and performance evaluation -production forecasting, etc. I was also invloved in a Schlumberger IPM-championed Production Optimisation project which involved: -analysis of avalable field data (well log, reservoir and production data) -well stimulation (acidising) -well bore clean out -acquisition, analysis and interpretation of new well logs -perforation and re-perforation jobs -cement squeeze jobs, etc.. Also at AMNI, I worked with the Project Team in the preparation of a development plan for two new fields (SETU-EAST and OKORO) also owned by AMNI. This involved design and screening of various development concepts for optimal recovery, processing and export of crude from these fields. I also assisted in the preparation of the FDP for potential investors. While laiasing with other members of the production team and professionals from Weatherford I actively participated in the design of an artificial lift (gas lift) system of a flowing well in the Ima field. I also carried out a risk and economic analysis of the project which involved 'tubing punch' and re-circulation of annular fluids. Civil Engineering... I also had some training in civil engineering at Yaba College of Technology and field experience in the construction with Dys Trocca & Valsecia Co., a Nigeria based Italian construction company. I was invloved in the construction of a World Bank-sponsored drainage system covering a large part of Lagos state. This involved the construction a long string of drainages as well as a level-bridge across the busy Apapa-Oshodi expressway, Lagos Nigeria. Leeds & dGB.... I spent the summer of 2006 at dGB Earth Sciences, Enschede, The Netherlands where I worked on a new Seismic Characterization concept called 'The Hit Cube'. The results of my research at dGB formed part of my MSc programme at Leeds Univ. At Leeds, I was on the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee where I represented postgraduate students in the Faculty of Environment. Awards... I recieved five awards during my Undergraduate studies at O.A.U. and an NMGS/ExxonMobil/NNPC prize for my undergraduate thesis. At Leeds I was on the Shell Centenary Scholarship and was awarded a GETECH Prize for my MSc. I am currently on an Earth Science fellowship at Stanford. Societies... I have been actively involved with SEG, NMGS and NAPE-AAPG student chapters where I had served at different times as President, General Secretary, and Editor-in Chief. One of my earliest and most cherished innovations was the use of simple Windows based programmes e.g MS Excel to generate interactive structural/ depth maps. The figure shows a 3-D depth map generated for a reservoir surface located in the Ima field. This is a roll over anticline as is typical of the Niger Delta area. |
