Created by Doug Goben--Park Ranger within the Monument during Summers since 2000 and science teacher at KG High School at Gildford, Montana

The purpose of this Virtual Field Trip is to introduce you to various geological features you would encounter in the White Cliffs. Because this area is only accessible by boat and would probably take three days to float through, it is not the easiest place to take an actual field trip. The White Cliff section of the Missouri River begins at Coal Banks landing and ends at Judith Landing. This field trip will focus on the geological features of this portion of the river. |

Most of the geology information is provided in Montana's Wild and Scenic Upper Missouri River by Glenn Monahan. Other information has come from teaching experience and from talking with people who float the river.
