Pokémon Episode Synopsis

Episodes 1-10



I Choose You!

Ash Ketchum gets his first Pokémon, a Pikachu who doesn't like him very much. The duo gets attacked by a flock of Spearows and when Ash bravely tries to draw on the attacking birds Pikachu saves them both. With his new Pokémon injured Ash hurries on to Viridian City, where a girl named Misty told him there was a Pokémon Hospital.


Emergency!

In Viridian City Officer Jenny helps Ash to the Pokémon Center, where Nurse Joy takes Pikachu into intensive care. Misty shows up furious because Ash trashed her bike trying to escape the Spearows. Then a band of Pokémon stealers who call themselves Team Rocket break in. But a newly recovered Pikachu sends 'em blasting off sky high!


Ash Catches a

In the Viridian Forest Ash catches his first Pokémon: a Caterpie. The next day he catches a Pidgeotto. Team Rocket chooses this moment to make an appearance and demand Pikachu, so Ash sends out Pidgeotto, then Caterpie to kick some serious Pokémon butt! Just as Misty's about to congratulate the giant caterpillar (despite her fear of bugs) it evolves into Metapod.


Challenge of the Samurai

Still in the Viridian Forest, Ash spies a Wheedle. Before he can capture it a boy with a sword challenges him to a Pokémon battle. The match eventually becomes Metapod against Metapod, which is interrupted by a swarm of Beedrills! They steal Ash's Metapod and buzz off. After Ash's rescue it evolves again, into Butterfree. Butterfree uses his sleep powder to knock them all out for a safe getaway.


Showdown in Pewter City

In Pewter City Ash, Misty and Pikachu find out about the Pokémon League, which can only be entered by earning badges from Gym leaders. Ash challenges Brock, the Pewter Gym leader, who wins with a giant Onix. But Ash doesn't give up, and when he's won the Boulder Badge Brock's father shows up to take care of his ten brothers and sisters. Brock decides to join Ash and Misty on their journey.


Clefairy and the Moon Stone

Ash, Misty, Pikachu and their new friend Brock rescue a scientist named Seymour from attacking Zubats near Mount Moon, where the Moon Stone crashed into earth from space. Seymour studies the Clefairy who pray to the Moon Stone. When Team Rocket steals the meteor to power up their Pokémon, Ash and his friends chase them down while Seymour convinces the Clefairy to use their attack, the Metronome, to get back their property.


The Water Flowers of Cerulean City

Ash and his friends enter Cerulean City, Misty's hometown, to challenge to Gym leaders for their Cascade Badge. But the leaders-Misty's three sisters-don't battle anymore. So Misty accepts Ash's challenge. Before the match can be finished Team Rocket breaks in, trying to steal the Cerulean Gym's Pokémon. But Pikachu blasts them with a thunderbolt. Because Ash's Pokémon saved the day, the Cerulean sisters give him the badge.


The Path to the League

Ash finds a Pokémon trainer named AJ whose won 98 times in a row. He always wins because he trains his Pokémon savagely, with a whip no less. Ash tries to get the Pokémon to leave, but they're all loyal to AJ, despite his methods. Then Team Rocket mistakes AJ's Sandshrew for Pikachu and captures it, but it escapes and returns to AJ's unofficial gym. Now Ash is convinced AJ and his Pokémon really do care about each other.


The School of Hard Knocks

Our foursome comes across a kid being quizzed-quite harshly-by a group of kids in school uniforms. They're all attending the infamous Pokémon Tech, and the leader of the group is a beautiful snob named Giselle. Thinking of teaching them all a lesson, Ash demands a Pokémon match. After Pikachu clobbers Cubone, Giselle admits she still has things to learn. Team Rocket tries to attack, but the Tech students scare them off.


Bulbasaur and the Hidden Village

Our hero Ash spies an Oddish in the forest, but before he can capture it a Bulbasaur helps it escape. After being swept away by the river Brock is rescued by a beautiful girl named Melanie. She cares for injured and abandoned Pokémon in a hidden hut that is protected by Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur doesn't like Ash at first, but after he helps protect the Pokémon from a Team Rocket attack it respects him. Melanie encourages it to go with Ash, and so the trainer gets his next Pokémon.
