Service Feature What you should know about Acne Acne is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones on the skin’s oil glands (sebaceous glands) which leads to plugged pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called zits or pimples. It can affect the face, neck, back or shoulders.
Comedogenic reactions – the tendency of a substance to cause dead cell buildup, resulting in the formation of comedones, also known as blackheads and whiteheads. Some acne medications cause irritation or dryness, including heavy makeup. Look for “non-comedogenic” cosmetics and toiletries to prevent pimples. Self-trauma and picking of pimples – picking or squeezing of pimples only makes them worse due to risk of infection. It can also cause inflammation and lead to scarring. Hormonal flares – Hormones are another major cause of acne flare-ups. Premenstrual and post-menopausal acne are all examples of hormonally-related acne. Pressure – “acne mechanica” can be caused by repeated pressure to the skin. It has also been associated with “wearable” items such as headsets, telephones, caps or other pressure- or friction-causing items. Oral contraceptives and drugs with steroids Heat and humidity – can cause increased perspiration, which may clog your pores. The best treatment for acne is prevention. The Godiva Licorice Anti-Blemish Line offers a natural way to help prevent acne and lighten acne scars. It helps prevent break outs in three ways:
2. Helps keep pores unplugged with natural fruit acid. 3. Wipes out bacteria with licochalcone. Godiva Skin Station Anti-Acne Facial

Beauty Secrets How people with acne should care for their skin If you have acne, make sure you keep in mind the following tips:
People being treated for acne often need to change some of the cosmetics they use. Make sure your foundation, face powder, blush, eye shadow and moisturizers are oil-free or non-comedogenic. v Avoid frequent handling of the skin Don’t squeeze, pinch or pick your blemishes to avoid the risk of developing acne scars.
v Clean skin gently It is recommended that people with acne gently wash their face with a mild soap or cleanser, once in the morning and once in the evening, and after heavy exercise. Don’t scrub your face when cleansing. Others try to stop acne outbreaks and oil production by scrubbing furiously with strong soaps and rough scrub pads. Scrubbing can only make the problem worse.
