SHRINE OF GODZILLA

Welcome to the first of many issues of my monthly dedication to what is going on in the Godzilla world. Every since I was about three years old I had been in to Godzilla or as the Japanese call him Gojira. I remember many years of my child hood spent watching the big green guy stop a mud hole into the likes of King Ghidorah, Titanasaurous, and Gigan. But eventually news came out from Toho that the Godzilla Franchise would come to an end with Godzilla vs. Destroyah. And so like many of the hardcore Godzilla fans out there it was a dark day in May when the monster love and we all new died at the end of the movie. However unlike many of the Godzilla movies at the end of this one it was quite evident that Godzilla Jr. had become an adult Godzilla thanks to the originals death.

And for a split second there was that feeling that maybe somewhere down the line Godzilla would return. Unfortunately this would not be a return of the Japanese Godzilla but a conjured up AMERICANIZED GODZILLA. So like most Godzilla fans out there we were disappointed at the fact that this was not Godzilla and so spawn the name that is now endeavored on that monster Trizilla. So with this said it seemed that this was the final nail in the coffin for Godzilla. I like many fans wondered if the monster we all loved was truly dead. So with not many other movies out there I watched the new Gamera movies, which were good but paled in comparison to the Godzilla movies. Sure the plot was good and set the standards for all Monster movies to come but the fact of the matter was fans still screamed BRING BACK GODZILLA!

And of course all request from the fans was denied by toho who had sold the rights of Godzilla to Tristar. However on August 12 of 1999, at the end of my tape for Gamera 3 a mighty roar could be heard followed by the words GODZIILA 2000 Millennium. I could not believe my eyes as for the first time in months I had seen the green Lizard again. And even though the commercial was mostly shots of the old movies the poster they showed at the end looked like a mightier, fiercer, and newer Godzilla. The release date for the movie in Japan was December 12, 1999, and like many I had to wait for a bootleg copy of the movie to come to my nearest video store. So the next month I had my copy of Godzilla 2000 and it did not disappoint. The true King of the Monsters was back the way he should be a guy in a suit.

As I watched the movie I notice that I liked this G-suit better it suited Godzilla more for the New Millennium. To may disbelief another monster did indeed appear in the Godzilla 2000, Orga. Finally we would here the ever famous Akira Ifukbe theme song that I grew up on and like so many other G-Films it was quite evident that Godzilla did triumph. So once again I was please that the real Godzilla had awaken from the shadows to reclaim his throne. So with a little joy in my heart brought sorrow what if this was only a one time deal and that the Godzilla Franchise is indeed dead and that this could be considered the last movie. So with the credits passing I wonder what if? But once again toho did not disappoint as the new Godzilla design showed up at the end of the movie and the teaser for Godzilla 2001 was shown.

So with that said it is true Godzilla was back to stay and the movie once known as Godzilla 2001 was renamed to Godzilla X Megaguirus: G Extermination Project. A movie that I have yet to find available on Bootleg. But one thing to mention before I shift focus again Godzilla 2000 was released here in theatres during the summer and did not disappoint. But back to other news Godzilla X Megagurirus ending did not follow with a trailer. But toho has just announced the next Godzilla Movie called Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: battle of the super monsters. So folks click to go futher into my page and I will show you what the story is for Godzilla X as well as the new movie for 2002 so thanks and please come back and visit this site very often.
