JOINING US

MEMBERSHIP

No person other than a scholar of German Studies in India or scholar of other disciplines with proven interest in German Studies, or a person of eminence who subscribes to the objectives of the Society shall be eligible to be a member of the Society;
There shall be an Admission Fee of Rs. 5/-;
A subscription of Rs.350/- payable annually or in lieu thereof a Life Membership of Rs.3000/- for the Members of the Society;
Associate Membership without voting rights shall be open to all research scholars in German Studies or other allied disciplines at Indian Universities. Such a member shall pay a subscription of Rs.250/-p.a. and also provide proof of his/her enrollment at an Indian University.
Associate Membership without voting rights shall be available to the spouses of regular members on payment of a subscription of Rs.250/-p.a. or a life associate membership fee of Rs.2000/-.
The subscription shall be payable within 30 days after the date of 3lst March every year. Any Member failing to pay the dues in time should pay the dues within 10 days from the date of receipt of a notice from the Society.

GOVERNING BODY OF THE GSI

The governing body shall consist of nine members, among whom there shall be a President, two Vice Presidents, a Secretary, a Treasurer and four Executive members who shall be called Office - bearers of the Society;
The members of the Governing Body shall be elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting and such elected persons shall hold office for three years.
The General Body shall meet at least once in a year, within six months, after the close of the financial year. The Secretary, at his discretion, may convene more than one General Body Meeting in a year, should the need for such a meeting arise.

VOTING

All questions shall be decided by a majority of votes of the Members present. In the case of equality of votes the President/Chairman will have the casting vote.

ANNUAL GENERAL BODY MEETING (AGBM)

The Society shall hold a General Meeting as its AGBM in each year before the expiry of six months after the close of the financial year (1st April to 31st March). The AGBM shall be convened for the following purposes

1. To receive the Annual Report of the Secretary;

2. To receive the accounts of the Society and to approve the audited balance sheets and reports of Auditors;

3. To appoint Auditor or Auditors of the Society for the next financial year;

4. To fill up any vacancy caused in the Governing Body by any reason whatsoever.

At every third AGBM the election of Office Bearers and Members to the Governing Body shall take place.

The Quorum for a meeting of the Governing body shall be 5 of the total members of the Society.
