At the beginning like every other series Dragonball Z began flawlessly but slowly but surely errors crept through. The errors on this page are divided into several categories....
TORIYAMA - Errors created by Dragonball Z creator Akira Toriyama himself
ANIME/TOEI - Errors created by the Japanese animation studio, TOEI
FUNIMATION - Errors created by FUNimation when translating the series into English
2. (ANIME) The first time we see Vegeta he has brown hair and green armor but when he lands on Earth is armor is blue and white and his hair is black. The reason for this is that the manga which the anime came from was in black and white and they chose these colors for Vegeta but later decided to change them.
3. (FUNIMATION?) Chi Chi drives her car to Master Roshi in "Gohan's Metamorphosis" Later in the Trunks saga episode "Goku's Ordeal" she tells Goku to get his license as she can't drive but as we see in this episode she can! A possible explanation is that she can drive but doesn't have a license...
4. (FUNIMATION) Bulma is wearing a robe in a scene in "Gohan's Metamorphosis" but it vanishes. This is due to the fact that FUNimation cut the scene where she took it off!
5. (TORIYAMA) Gohan transforms in "Gohan's Metamorphosis" but looking at the full moon. This is would be okay if Master Roshi had not destroyed the moon in Dragonball!
6. (FUNIMATION?) Theres a great problem in "Black Day for Planet Earth" as King Kai tells Goku that he will have to run the entire length of Snakeway as King Kai says he can't zap him there. This is a problem because when Goku visits King Kais planet in the Cell Saga Goku shows King Kai his Instant Transmission and King Kai says that Goku should of learnt it off him as he also knows it. If he knew the techniquen why didn't he help Goku teleport back to Earth in the Saiyan saga? A possible reason is that he learnt to teleport after the Saiyan saga.
7. (FUNIMATION) In "Nappa...The Invincible" Nappa slices of Tien's arm and Tien says that it "will grow back" but Tien can not regenerate. This is caused by the fact that FUNImation doesn't want the viewers think that Tien lost his arm forever...
8. (FUNIMATION) In "Vegeta...Saiyan Style" Vegeta tranforms into a were monkey and Goku realises that Vegeta killed hs grandfather. Actually this is the point where Goku realises that he killed his grandfather.
9. (FUNIMATION) In the same episode as the one above Vegeta tells Goku that his father was a brilliant scientist who created the power ball when actually Goku's father (Bardock) was a low class fighter as seen in "Bardock: The Father of Goku" and Vegeta actually invented the Power Ball technique.
10. (ANIME) On "Trouble on Arlia" at a point Vegeta and Nappa exit their space pods to destoy Arlia. As they are in space at the time they should die as Saiyans can't breathe in space!
2. (FUNIMATION) Due to a cut in "Journey to Namek" Krillin is wearing a hat in one scene of this episode and it disappears in the next. This is because FUNimation cut four minutes during which Krillin's hat gets sucked into space...
3. (FUNIMATION) In "The Ruthless Frieza" Goku says that his saiyan space pod in which he arrived as a baby had been rebuilt to go to Namek by Dr Brief but this can't be as his space pod was destoyed by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon. It did actually say this in the manga but in the manga the pod is not destroyed and the Japanese anime has it say instead that it was Raditz' pod (which was not completely destroyed after Gohan escaped out of it). FUNimation creates the error by changing the lines.
4. (ANIME) In the same episode as the one above when Goku blasts off for Namek the side of his pod as he blasts off reads "Cpsule Corp" instead of the proper "Capsule Corp" due to an animation stuff up.
5. (FUNIMATION) Krillin recites a Christian prayer in "Secrets Revealed" ("Now I lay me down to sleep..") but as Krillin is a Buddist monk why would he say a Christian prayer?
6. (FUNIMATION) In order to escape the star in "Collision Course" Goku uses the Kaioken attack (First Kaioken x10 then Kaioken x20) but as the Kaioken is just a power up why is it a blast here? In the Japanese version he says Kamehameha instead....
7. (FUNIMATION) Krillin says in "The Eldest Namek" Krillin jokes that if he had hiddenn powers he would grow a head full of hair but as we all know now Krillin can grow hair easily but until the Buu saga he chose sto shave it so it wasn't pulled in a fight.
8. (FUNIMATION) In "Vegeta Revived" Gohan is at the village where Vegeta killed all the people and we see graves but according to the English version they all "got away" so why are there graves? Its funny actually how the Nameks are revived later on even though the English version made it look like they all "got away" and Bulma says that they wil take Dende back to his parents later. What? THEY ARE DEAD! I mean what are they gonna take Dende to? THEIR DEAD BODIES?
9. (ANIME) When the Ginyu Force arrives on Namek Guldo has a flashback with Vegeta and he doens't have a tail which he should have as he had not been to earth at that point...
10. (FUNIMATION) Various references to our Earth and Earth things that aliens shoudn't know which occurs throughout DBZ. Although the Dragonball world is called Earth it is not our Earth but one like it (Theres only one continent with many small islandsand dinosaurs still live for example). Heres some examples.
- Nappa says that he had seen the news once and thought it "Stunk" in "Tien Goes All Out"
- Nappa says in "Times Up" that soon he will be "waiting for a bus in the next dimension" but how does Nappa know what the hell as bus is?
- Piccolo follows up the line above with "Have you ever heard the story of David and Goliath?" but Piccolo is a demon! Not to mention a character from a Japanese TV programme so why would he know bible stories and I don't think Nappa had heard the story of David and Goliath as very few missionaries journey to space to give out bibles (actually none do)
- Recoome said in "No Refuge from Recoome" that he loved to watch soap operas. Do they have soap operas on other planets? Do they even have soap?
-Frieza says that the Namek warrior he fights "have the power of a boy scout troop". Frieza does not know what a boy scout is...
-Frieza says that Nail was going to go "the way of the dodo" Firstly how would Frieza know what a dodo is? And secondly this being an alternate universe (In other words although Goku lives on Earth its not our Earth)
- Krillin says in "No Refuge from Recoome" that "If Vegeta knew he was so powerful how come he almost let us go the way of the dinosaurs" but this is wrong as in the DB Universe Earth (and Namek) the dinosaurs are still alive and you see them all the time!
- Frieza says "on and on like a broken record" in "The Death of Vegeta" despite the fact that Frieza does not know what a record is...
- Oolong says they should "forget about going to lizardville and head to the Bahamas" even though inn the Dragonball World of the Bahamas
- Bulma says she "could be the next Jane Goodall" even though Jan Goodall doesn't exist in tthe Dragonball world.
11. (FUNIMATION) In "Password is Porunga" there is a scene where Dende discoves the bodies of Burter and Guldo. The interesting thing is Guldo has no head! While in the Japanese version Guldo is killed by Vegeta decapitating him in the English version this part was edited out so why does Guldo have no head?
12. (TOEI) In one shot of King Vegeta in "Fighting Power: One Million?!" the symbol on his chest is missing
13. (TOEI) In the same episode as the one above there is a shot of Vegeta and he is wearing his old blue armor!
14. (FUNIMATION) In "Another Transformation" Frieza says how he thought he destroyed all the Saiyans except for Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz twenty years ago but this is odd because in "The Arrival of Raditz" the Saiyans were supposedly destroyed three years ago and one year occurs between Raditz's line and Frieza's. The Raditz line is the wrong one while Frieza's is correct.
15. (FUNIMATION) In "The End of Vegeta" there is a flashback scene of Bardock facing Frieza. Bardock says to the people floating behind him "Don't be afraid of him men" The odd thing about this is that these are Frieza's men and Bradock has just fought though them to get to Frieza! If you've seen Bardock: The Father of Goku you'll know what I mean...
16 There are several errors in the episode Namek's Destruction as Gohan flies over the dead bodies of Burter, Recoome and Guldo...
1. (FUNIMATION) Guldo has a head again..In the episode "Password is Porunga" Guldo was shown with no head which made no sense but no he does have a head!!! Pershaps it grew back (after he was dead)
2. (TOEI) The bodies of all the dead fighters are pretty close together. They all fell quite a distance from each other but in the scene mentioned they are all lying next to each other.
3. (TOEI) How did the Ginyu Force have their bodies on King Kai's planet when they are all still on Namek? In the Saiyan saga when Goku died Kami took his body so he could use it in the afterlife but what about the Ginyu Force?
17. (TOEI) In "Pathos of Frieza" there is a scene where the symbol on King Kai's robe's colours are inverted (black is white and white is black)
18. (TOEI) In "Free Defeated" Vegeta has a flashback in which he remembers himslef, raditz and Nappa taling about Frieza and the destruction of their homeworld. Nappa tells vegeta that there is rumour that Frieza destroyed the planet and Vegeta says he already knew this but if he already knew the Frieza destroyed the Saiyan homeworld then why is Vegeta suprised when Dodoria told him in "Secrets Revealed"?
