Dr. Lonnie Smith The historic Apple Grove Inn, located in Medina (Western NY), has been the setting for the Genessee-Orleans Jazz Festival for the past six years. Artists like David "Fathead" Newman, Barbara St. Clair, Terrance Bruce (Cabo Frio, Dizzy Gillespie) with Paradigm Shift, Bobby Militello (Dave Brubeck), Tom Schumann (Spyro Gyra), and Bobby Jones (Sammy Davis Jr.) have graced the stage and brought the crowd to its knees with a Jazz that would both get your toes a tappin' and your eyes watering. Started in 1997 by the Genesee Orleans Visitor's Center and co-founders Bob Golden and Joe Gehl, it has become a staple of the area, bringing Jazz lovers from Western NY and Canada to show their love of the genra.

You may ask, "Why do the Jazz Festival?"

* To promote arts in the Orleans - Genesee County region

* To encourage youth participation

* To give youth the opportunity and experience of performing in a festival setting, and having the chance to mingle with and hear great regional and nationally known musicians

* To provide performance opportunities to local musicians, not yet recognized

* To introduce nationally successful musicians to our region

* To expose residents and youths to different styles, elements and the history of Jazz

* To encourage support of live music and jazz performances in the Orleans - Genesee Counties area

* To develop additional audience and venues before and in which live music (in particular JAZZ) can be performed and flourish

* To Raise funds for the Center
