Basic Facts as of December 2002

Adept's Refuge began on Thursday, June 13, 2002 with one staff member, Jontoy64.  One of it's first affiliates was Golden Sun Realm.  The old layout consisted of a brown background and a news page with the oldest post on top.  The original name was Golden Sun Adept's Refuge, so that way it would be easier to find on the internet.  The address became too tedious to type, so it became GS Adept's Refuge.  Today, we are drawn between Adept's Refuge and GS Adept's Refuge.

Later on, Jontoy64 and his new assistant webmaster Rinkukun set out for more staff; they could not handle it alone.  Shortly after, Jupiter Wind sent an email to Jontoy64 to join and Shadow responded from posts of another GS Site's Message Boards.  Around this time the new logo system was brought to life.

Another e-mail came asking for a banner from GS Kings, a small and new Golden Sun site.  Jontoy64 met the webmaster, Airik, and agreed to do some imaging for him if he help out with AR.  Quite some time later, GS Kings shut down and Airik became a full time staff member.*

Adept's Refuge began to grow more and more with new links such as the Image Gallery and The GS Chain Story.  The Comics also became a great hit.

Soon after, a new layout was proposed, and Jontoy64 made a somewhat-sloppy layout.  He figured it would do, and the element of the week system grew.

Awhile later Adept's Refuge began to face tough times.  Jontoy64 began to be busy with school work and was only able to update every 2 days, a great delay for a site that needed more to grow.  Rinkukun's computer crashed and he became somewhat eliminated from the staff.  Airik focused on a new GS Kings.  Shadow and Jupiter Wind were nowhere to be found.

Now, though, Jontoy64 became desperate.  As the only solid updater (Airik and Rinkukun popped in every once in a while), he began to try and find new ways to get word out that there was another GS Site worth visiting.  He had to cope with the great decline in traffic for the whole GS community, as well.  Luckily, Isaac's Revenge reopened, and its Newsbits section directed more traffic to AR.  Eventually, Airik and Shadow came back, helping Jontoy64 get the site back to the way it was.  Jupiter Wind and Rinkukun tried to help, but still were not able to update as often.  Airik became involved with a new site he calls the Square Chronicles, which has offered AR hosting rights.  Shadow, however, rose to the occasion with a new name, DL-Shadow, to avoid confusion with other people, and began to update daily, making him the overall best updater on the staff.  Jontoy64 also shed his name and became Jon, a simple and easy name to remember.  Max from Isaac's Revenge also lent a hand by making AR a new layout, which is the one we use today.  Survivor 2 began, and more people began to visit AR.  

Survivor 2 is still going at this time, and we're still involved!  Don't vote us out!

*Airik has given GS Kings away to King K.  Airik is now working on Square Chronicles as well as AR.
