1. Disconnect the battery cables from the battery 2. Jack up front of car and put stands under the FRAME not the axle. 3. Grabing the wheel at 12 & 6 O'clock pull the wheel back and forth Do you have play? if yes check the following a. looking at the top of the spindle is there play in the King Pin Bushings? if yes then you need to; 1a. Re-bush the spindles 2a. Check Axle King Pin holes for wear 3a. Check top hole for fit to King Pin 4a. Check bottom threads 5a. If these items are loose or worn out they should be fixed , Axle may need to be replaced or re-built. 4. No play in spindle bushing but the Spindle arm and Tie Rod connections are loose . a. Remove Spindle Arm bolts b. Check bushing in spindle arm . if worn out you need to do ; 1a remove spindle arm from spindle push out old bushing and replace with new BRONZE bushings 2a replace spindle Arm bolts with NEW bolts. 5. Tie Rod ends are worn out replace tie rod 6. Check the connection between the Drag Link and Tie Rod, Is this loose? a. remove Drag Link caps check ball , this should measure 1.00" if under size; 1a. Replace ball in Tie Rod if you have an early car you will have to replace Tie Rod. 2a. Check sockets in Drag Link if worn you have to replace Drag Link. 7. Check connection of Drag Link and Pitman Arm, If loose; a. Check top socket of Drag Link, if worn replace drag link if not; 1a. check Pitman Arm Ball should be 1.00" If under size replace Pitman Arm. 8. Most important!!! check the ball on the Wishbone this should measure 1 1/4 " if this is undersize the whole front end will be loose VERY UNSAFE a. Check Socket on Oils Pan if this is worn this has to be fixed. Make sure the nuts are wired together NOT Cotter Pins. Golding's T Parts has all these parts in stock or can be custom repaired for you. I have a way of rebuilding the Crank Case socket you would have to send your pan to me. I have re-built Wishbones , Tie Rods , Drag Links and Pitman Arms, Re-built Spindles and Axles .
