"Fan Fiction" (a.k.a. fanfics) refers to fiction writing within an established TV, movie, or book genre. Whew! What does that mean? It means that people who love certain television or movie characters can write about them in a free-for-all environment. Ever want to write a story about Godzilla tearing up the cast of "Friends"? Well, that's "fanfic" material. Anything goes--serious, funny, ridiculous, sublime...Your imagination (and your love for the program) is the limit.
Send your Tales of the Gold Monkey story (either as a file attachment or a whole work) to ninamonkey2@yahoo.com, or send a .txt copy of it through the Story Suggestions page. I can take .html, .txt., Word, and WordPerfect story formats through e-mail, but I can only accept .txt documents through Story Suggestions.
Because of space I prefer shorter pieces, but I can make exceptions for really good stories. The maximum space I want to allot is 200K. I still reserve the right to final editing as far as space is concerned but I'll definitely work with you before I suggest any edits. Especially for two- or three-part stories.
Me! But I'm a kind, benevolent despot. I accept anything that your basic 18-year-old can see legally in his local theater, within reason. Gold Monkey is really a family friendly show...See below for more information on what I will/won't accept.
Yes. I accept poetry, "crossover" fiction, "filks", etc. Art work maybe, depending on the space. I prefer your best finished works, but I'll take what you're willing to send. Unfinished works have their own special section unless you choose to finish them. E-mail me at ninamonkey2@yahoo.com if you'd like to see your unfinished work as a continuing serial to which every writer can contribute.
Sequels are great! I take 'em all. Just make sure you tell me what the prequels to your sequels are, so the sequels are put in proper order.
No. If you want to write for mature adults, please submit your pieces to an alternative website, or create your own website. Thanks...
Will I get paid for contributing a story?
Just my undying gratitude! I wish I *could* pay writers. But the more you write, the more you improve, and the more you improve the better your chances are for ABC, CBS, NBC et. al...
