| John Pedro, Bob Muth, Hayward Peleiholan. These three made up one of 1st platoon's fireteams. It broke my heart when Hayward was killed. He was such a nice, dependable guy. |

| Bob Muth throwing a grenade into a river. We'd do this once in while just to see if we could kill some fish. It was something to do. On the far left is Gary Newsome. Between Gary and Bob is Steve Lewis. In July Newsome got a real choice assignment. He was made a combat photographer. He came down to LZ Ross to visit with us in late August when he heard how bad we had been shot up. Steve was shot August 12, 1969. |
