Cross The Voteby Jerrell Donnell
In America we have more rights than in any other nation in the world. The greatest of these rights is freedom of religion. However, this right means nothing if we do not vote to keep or put people in office that will protect these rights for us. In America today we are facing a time when pagan religions are protected at the expense of the Christian faith. We live in a country founded on faith in the Christian God, but where Muslims can pray in school and prayer there for Christian children is forbidden. I hear Christians complaining about these sort of things all the time. Complaining does no good we live in a country where we get to chose our leaders but Americans would rather vote there political party than vote there faith. This is an election year and in this year we will elect (or re-elect) the person who will lead our nation for the next four years. This same person will be the one to nominate judges and those judges will decide how far the freedom of religion extends. For far too long federal judges
have protected the rights of pagan religions and atheist but forgotten the Christians right to practice our beliefs in public view where it might disturb the non believers. The wonderful thing is this is a trend we can change if we will start voting our faith, we can turn America back to a Christian nation. It will not be easy, many politicians hide there religious views good or bad. We need to do the research and look at the candidate voting records and look at there personal lives not necessarily invasively but well enough to know their stand on religious issues. Americans look into these things to make their decision from an economic stand point but we are afraid to do it when it comes to our religious rights. Are we as Christian Americans more concerned with our pocket books than the condition of our immortal souls? Please remember when you go to the poles this election year to Cross the vote.

![]() The Wayby Marvin Griffin, minister
Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life." John 14: 6. Notice He didn't say I am A Way, a Good Way, an Option... but He said I am THE Way. Jesus came to return to mankind the life intended for Adam & Eve in the garden.Of course we do not "have it all" until we reach the pearly gates, but Jesus came to restore us to fellowship with God our Creator. The scriptures reveal to us that Christ gives us abundant life, joy, peace that passes understanding, hope, love for each other, and much more.
What more could we ask for? And the beauty of it is salvation is not difficult. Religious rites are not a requirement, signing a church card is not a requirement, shaking a preacher's hand is not it. Getting "voted in" is not it. The only requirement is to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and let go of our own agenda and "religion" and allow Him full reign over our life. Being a part of the church (the body of Christ) is special benefit of being a Christian, but the first and foremost thing is allowing Him to have His way in our life. Most of us have had our way, or our parent's way, or A way but Jesus is the Highway, the real way, the only way to success, happiness and hope. |
