| Guards Blake Stepp is a warrior, playing with torn miniscus in his knee all season. There were times when he had to be held out of practice because of it, but good news for Blake next season is that he will be at full strength. He was the WCC Freshman of the year two seasons ago and is deadly from three. He will be a co-point guard with Winston Brooks and will push the ball up faster than even Dan Dickau. Blake has nice size for a point guard 6'4' and will be a junior next season. Winston Brooks would have helped Gonzaga a lot come tournament time, unfortunately he injured his wrist before league play began. Winston is a ball hawk and a pass first player. Very quick and is going to be a key to the success of the team next year. Winston transfered from a JC and will be playing his firsst full season at Gonzaga next season, he was injured last season, his first at Gonzaga. Winston will be a redshirt senior next season. Josh Reisman is a major comeptitor, his senior season he led his team to an undeafeted record and state championship. A good athlete that is going to get quite a bit of playing time next year provided his quality development continues to improve. Josh will be a redshirt freshman next season. Kyle Bankhead is the best three point shooter of all these players. He has shown continuious improvement since he arrived and will be on scholarship next season for the first time. Kyle wont back down to anyone and is going to be a major force next season. Kyle will be a redshirt junior next season.advantage there. Forwards Tony Skinner is a transfer from a junior college in Colorado.He was a very prolific scorer in juco and got looks from quite a few teams this past season despite an injury that hampered him most of the season. Tony will be inserted into the starting lineup to replace Anthony Reason. Tony will be a junior next season. Tyler Amaya was a teamate in high school of Josh Reisman. Combined they had a very impressive record and beat Rainer Beach in the 3A Finals, Rainer Beach that season had two guys that are going to be courted from everyone accross the country this season, the twins, Rodrick and Lodrick Stweart. Tyler has major athletic ability and may recieve time next season after Skinner. Tyler will be a redshirt freshman next season. While Dan Dickau is a loss to this team all signs point towards Gonzaga actually improving, if thats at all possible, this upcoming season. The Zags are ranked 23rd in the country for next season by the Arizona Wildcats Insiders site. Needless to say this game will be a battle that I am looking forward to. |
