"Axis of Evil"

Bitter after being snubbed for membership in the "Axis of Evil," Libya, China, and Syria today announced they had formed the "Axis of Just as Evil," which they said would be way eviler than that stupid Dorea axis President Bush warned of his State of the address.  Axis of Evil members, however, immediately dismissed the new axis as having, for starters, a really dumb name.  "Right.  They are Just as Evil ... in their dreams!"  declared North Korean leader Kim Jong II.  "Everybody knows we're the best evils ... best at being evil ... we're the best."  Diplomats from Syria denied they were jealous over being excluded, although they conceded they did ask if they could join the Axis of Evil.  "They told us it was full," said Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.  "An Axis can't have more than three countries," explaned Iraqi President Saddam Hussein.  "This is not my rule, it's tradition.  In World War II you had Germany, Italy, and Japan in the evil Axis.  So you can only have three.  And a secret handshake.  Ours is wicked cool."

The Axis Pandemic

International reaction to Bush's Axis of Evil declaration was swift, as within minutes, France surrendered.

Elsewhere, peer-conscious nations rushed to gain triumvirate status in what became a game of geopolitical chairs.  Cuba, Sudan, and Serbia said they had formed the Axis of Somewhat Evil, forcing Somalia to join with Uganda and Myanmar in the Axis of Occasionally Evil, while Bulgaria, Indonesia and Russia established the Axis of Not So Much Evil Really As Just Generally Disagreeable.

With the criteria suddenly expanded and all the desirable clubs filling up, Sierra Leone, El Salvador, and Rwanda applied to be called the Axis of Countries That Aren't the Worst But Certainly Won't Be Asked to Host the Olympics; Canada, Mexico, and Australia formed the Axis of Nations That Are Accually Quite Nice But Secretly Have Nasty Thoughts About America, while Spain, Scotland, and New Zealand established the Axis of Countries That Be Allowed to Ask Sheep to Wear Lipstick.  "That's not a threat, really, just something we like to do," said Scottish Executive First Minister Jack McConnell.

While wondering if the other nations of the world weren't perhpas making fun of him, a cautious Bush granted approval for the most axes, although he rejected the establishment of the Axis of Countries Whose Names End in "Guay," accusing on of it's members of filing false application.  Officials from Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chadguay denied the charges.  Israel, meanwhile, insisted it didn't want to join any Axis, but privately, world leaders said that's only because no one asked them.

"Pick up a Weapon"

I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform, are profound.  No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize anything having to do with 9/11.  Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of the country.

If you lost a family member in the 9/11 attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000.  The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.  Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs.  If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry.  And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18.  When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of 1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough.

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the 9/11 families are getting.  In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.  You see where this whole thing is going, don't you?

Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of entitlement politics in the country.  It's just really sad.

"Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."  --Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr.

Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive next to nothing of a raise.  Now the green machine is in combat in  the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low rent housing.

However our own US Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be millionaires plus.  They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system.

If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7, you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed you in harms way receive a pension of $15,000 per month.  I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join the ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.
