Kate Maberly’s Flight 29 http://www.oocities.org/captengle/index.html

3/14/05 – Mon 67299

            Happy Birthday Kate!

Several recipients of the Mothertime CD’s I mailed out have expressed desire to essentially pay me back for the cost. While I was just trying to modestly absorb the cost myself as I don’t see it as a big deal in the slightest, I get where ya’ll are coming from. I’ve tried earnestly to avoid making money off of this site. I think it would take away some of the innocence of it, as well as I’d feel as though I were riding on another person’s coattails. Maybe that’ll change someday, but for now, this webpage costs me nothing but the time I freely give. So, from now on those who want a copy, drop me an email (captengle@yahoo.com) with your mailing address and it will be mailed out whenever I get to it next. That’ll prolly happen once a week or so. If you wanna reimburse me, that’s cool too. Please use the same email address above fer paypal. Here’s what it costs me:

                .04   CD-R

                .26   Jewel Case

                .60   Bubble envelope

             + .60   USPS domestic (48 states) postage.

            $1.50   USD my grand total.

I am willing to ship Internationally, rush delivery not available. See stores for details. Taxes applicable in Narnia, Summerland and Brobdingnag. Some restrictions may apply. The webmaster is not liable for any damage or incompatibility issues you may have as a result of receiving and using this disk. While the contents are scanned with antivirus software, no antivirus software is 100% perfect, so I recommend everyone scan the disk with your own antivirus software. No warranty is expressed or implied. Satisfaction not guaranteed. No refunds will be given. Your address and other personal information will not be sold, lent, rented, or given to any other party under any circumstances.

I wish I had more space to promote people to moderators, as by my standards there are some new people who deserve it, but yahoo! Limits me to 15 total moderators/owners. If you’re a moderator and don’t use it/want it, let me know so we can share the honor.

As Darin pointed out and I mentioned here in the updates about two years ago, the hits counter I quote here and you see on the index page is not accurate. It reflects total loads, as opposed to unique machine loads. So every time you hit refresh it goes up by one. For the longest time, geocities offered a hidden (now public) set of page stats that also reflected true hits, but no longer. Here they are:

Total page views to date                                   67291 [rock on!]

Highest monthly page views                              3144 in November 2003 [So much for my anticipated Neverland rush]

Most popular browser visitors use                     84.49% use MSIE 6.0 [I am hoping that means 15.51% use Firefox 1.0, the browser reloaded. Open source is the only logical way to go.]

Most common screen resolution visitors have    70.54% have 1024x768 [perhaps I should redesign for that res, but for now and until I learn html I’ll cater to the lowest common denominator]

Top search engine used to access this page       100.00% use www.google.com [google has so won the search engine race]

Top search word used to find this page             71.81% typed "kate maberly" [what, no caps?]

This page is linked to most often from this URL 84.34% of visitors link from Unknown [I’d bet that number comes from bookmarks]

Changed the background color here. No body complained, and on my old monitor it looked okay, but on this newer one which I suspect has better overall color, the green looked too dark. New color is #154b33 (listed here primarily for my own reference).

I gotta say the message board is really starting to reflect my own sense of chaos, absurdity and humor. It’s a place to let down your hair, put your feet up, enjoy an extra-mellow yellow (mellow yellow with a shot of vodka), and say whatever it is that’s on your mind (so long as it’s PG-13 or so). I love reading all of the jokes, Kate web finds, reviews, rants, comments, etc.

But curiosity gets the better part of me and I peek:

3/10/05 – Thur 66817

Finding Neverland came and went. It got mixed reviews, and rightly so. It was a period piece, and a drama so there is a limited audience appeal right there. Johnny Depp’s and Kate Winslet’s performances were spectacular, and I believe the makers made it as good as could be. The QKT (Quality Kate Time) was extremely low and toward the end, but nevertheless worth watching once, and I will probably wind up adding it to my dvd collection.

As promised, the copies of Mothertime have been burned and mailed, albeit with great delay, so I offer this as a public apology for the delay. And while I hate to make excuses for anything, I offer this as an explanation: first off my own laziness was a principle factor in the delay, but along with that I had to replace my motherboard to burn just about anything, and while doing that I upgraded my whole rig to an athlon64 system. Further I work nights and the post office simply doesn’t keep my hours, and neither do the frelling banks I might add.

The Fnord’s at yahoo again went back to frame advertisements rather than unblockable popups. While flight 29 is mostly adapted to revert, this may cause a small navigation problem if you try to click back on your browser. To do that you may have to use the drop down history menu available in IE 3.x and later, or use the Flight 29’s internal navigation found on every page.

I’m going to give it a while before I remove them, but it looks like the hollywood, blooq, childstarlets, dot coms are down as is David Sutton’s. Killed links to art-f and free-movies as they have no Kate content presently. Also as promised, our brave Sir Robin’s aka not_anyway aka Aufér Nugás polish Kate site is now linked http://www.maberly.end.pl/.

I noticed the google for Kate Maberly has changed radically recently. I suppose this is due to her credit in Finding Neverland. Several of the top links are sites dedicated to movies in general or video clearing houses.

We now have a few clips from Anglo Saxon Attitudes courtesy of mr. moderator matsmol in KMF 13.

Dedication, devotion, turning all of the night time into the day.

1/07/05 – Fri 61953

It’s been a while, but I haven’t had too much to add, and have been busy elsewhere in my life.

Added warnings in various places about our group/message board. The warning being that it is a very active group, and that people might want to reduce their email settings to daily digest.

I’ve also noticed that the number of dreambook/guestbook signings have greatly gone down since I moved and made a second book (this first one was overflowing).

Much to my amazement and satisfaction, we pierced 60k hits before the end of the year.

Deleted link to famous zone as my antivirus caught a something from one of their popups, and they didn’t seem to have any real content of their own anyways. Deleted foreign films, and classic actors as they do not link to me. I also removed the two top 50 links as they’ve been off the net for months now.

I’ve finally upgraded my os to XP pro, w sp2. I’m also once again using my hulking 21” monitor. Upsides: much more stable. Downsides: looks like the java on this machine is rendering all in sun style, and as a result the index page doesn’t look exactly the way I want it too. Dunno if it’s yahoo’s fault or mine, but the birthday applet seems to be down.

Recent message from Mr. Nobody: “she hinted that she had an acting project in the works, but it was too early to talk about it.” “ …a friend of hers and they tell me she has a ‘couple of things line up’.    Even though this is nothing, you can certainly tell the group that there is the possibility of some work.” He has also told me that we have the whole of the interview so there are no more parts to be forthcoming.

eleasar_aldarion has been promoted to moderator for outstanding deliverance of new material, information, and frequent posting making our collective richer.

Yahoo! Has reverted back to double popups, one being blockable, another being not.

“We will be geared to the average rather than the exceptional.”

11/13/04 – Sun 57874

Well with much thanks to an anonymous emailer, we have an interview with Kate Maberly, from off of the radio(?). Parts one and two of ? are currently uploaded in group 10, http://www.oocities.org/finding_neverland_km/

and here http://www.oocities.org/kminterview/. It’s a wow and a half. A must listen for the die hard fan, and a cool and free download for everyone else. If you have trouble downloading them or any of the other files, just drop me an email and I’ll be happy to email them too you. If you have trouble receiving such large attachments just sign up for a free yahoo email account.

We now have files pages numbered (sort of) 1-12, chock full o’ tidbits, over 132 MB worth.

I made one of the two Interview pages fully searchable, and heavily key worded to Finding Neverland. Perhaps we’ll get a few more hits from that.

After googling Kate, I’ve found that the images search finds my Gulliver’s Travels page. So I added the break out of frame JavaScript code, and now: Ach! Egads! Yahoo has now seriously F'd up geocities by making their advertisement a frame instead of a popup. Now all the pages are very ugly, and the advertisements are hard to ignore. Even more incentive for me to learn Dreamweaver. For now, I can add the break out of frame JavaScript code to most of my pages, and all of the Kate ones, but sheesh, I shouldn't have to. Maybe I'll migrate to tripod, or pay yahoo to become a dot com and partner with Amazon and/or Google to pay for it.

Since I noticed earlier today that the site was down due to over bandwidth, I’ve removed the daughter of a pig wav. It’s been added instead to group 8, along with a bit more from the storybook CD rom.

I was also finally able to fix the strange font error that had cropped up on this page. I fixed by cutting and pasting the text from this document to word pad, back, readjusting the font again, then repeating the cut n’ paste. It now saves as fast as it should.

11/3/04 – Wed 56739

Tension is mounting as we draw ever closer to the full release of Finding Neverland. I’ve seen more Kate stuff come onto the web than ever before. There is an interview with her available on the index page, which told us a bunch.

Matsmol uploaded a picture of an autograph Kate gave Dolores, presumably one of the crew of The Langoliers as the autograph is on one of the pages from the book itself. First time I’ve seen her autograph or even heard of her giving one. Originally this was on sale at eBay.

Kate is has a score of 88% on hottierankings dot com. Not quite tasteful, but if you wanted good taste what are you doing on the internet? It’s chock full of Americans like me.

I failed to win a webaward mostly because of missing alt tags, the many errors that geobuilder puts into it’s pages (which could be solved if they threw in a charset tag), and most annoyingly they insist that my external links open in a new window. That’s what bothered me. I like my links to stay in the same window, and I will right click on a link if I want it to open in a different window.

I’ve done a lot of updating on my personal site. Thumbing through my senior year yearbook can do that to me. What you ask? Don’t.

Kate was in two new radio dramas brought to us by BBC radio 4. A Certain Smile and My Wounded Heart.

More huge updates coming soon to a browser near you.

This update was brought to you by the letters K, M and the number 29.

JGIWYP.

8/3/04 – Tue 51224

I’ve really gotta say, that if it weren’t for the moderators on the group, and it being so active, I probably wouldn’t update this site nearly as much, and would only put up new information, rather than trying to make it the best possible website I can make it. Here’s to you!

And speaking of you, katieally7782 has been promoted to moderator thanks to her contributions, namely a list of Kate’s skills that only casting directors would normally see. The list includes things like: Kate's Professional skills: Cello, Piano, Mezzo-soprano, composer, after dinner speaker, licensed driver, and voice over. Accents she's able to do are Southern USA, New England, New York, Standard American and Dublin. I also adjusted a few of her credits, namely as-if is confirmed to be from 2001, Gooseberries Don’t Dance is from 1998, and a new credit has been added: MTV’s Appeal for 9/11 (2002). I know nothing about the new credit beyond what I just told you.

All of that comes from Kate’s cv on http://www.spotlightcd.com/ that also has her height listed as 5’5 so that question is settled. I would love to read it, and as soon as I have £40 I don’t have any other use for (which will probably be never) I’ll register to look at it. Normally one has to be a casting director, but seeing as how I have a film credit, and my father is head of PCC Film…

Another interesting tidbit about Kate that I had forgotten about was brought to my attention by kenjabin: Kate was originally cast in a Sci-Fi move called The Osiris Chronicles aka Warlord: The Battle for the Galaxy which starred John Corbett, Carolyn McCormick, and John Pyper-Ferguson. I’ve seen that movie and it sucked. It was no loss for her to have missed that. The film was originally supposed to be shot back in 95, but didn’t come out until 98. Elisabeth Harnois got her old part as Maggi Sorenson.

Thanks to IMDb we now have the exact dates A Touch of Frost and Midsomer Murders were aired.

I am now rated for all audiences by iClass, even though I applied for a rated for 11 year olds and older, mainly because I refuse to be politically correct here and I do cuss. I also remade the custom meta tags for my page on The Secret Garden and The Langoliers. Those two films attract the vast majority of fans to my site, so they deserve special attention. I also found the http://validator.w3.org/checklink which is killer for finding broken links on a webpage. I’m actually learning html now with thanks in part to the way Mozilla shows source code, and in my desire to win some of the more prestigious web awards out there.

I’ve also updated the “get more celebrity starlet pictures, security, etc. rtf”.

I have begun working on a new fan site dedicated to Ashley Johnson. I’ve been following her career longer than I have Kate’s, and she should by all means be Hollywood A list. I was seriously pissed off when I did a Google search for her and found her fan pages haven’t been updated since 2002. http://www.oocities.org/admengle/

I made the article Elephants in the Garden by Esther Freud a little more web friendly. Now even Onzi Jack might be able to read it. Well probably not, but you never know with that character.

7/27/04 – Tue 50819

I’ve won the Great celebrity Site award by Bill’s Tribute to Lara Flynn Boyle, The Butterfly Site award, Great Kids Site award from Leka, Cute Site award from LittleShy, and the Web Excellence award from Too Cool K9 Raul.

I’ve made another dreambook for flight 29 as the other one was filled and overflowing, which meant that older entries were being deleted. I also finally got around to uploading a better version of the opening .wav of Kate saying “This is Kate Maberly” which was recorded off of Catherine Called Birdie. Special thanks to Jewelduel for that one. I’d also like to thank Jeff for clearing up that Cyprus issue. Since I’ve listed her Shakespearian credit, it has given me license to join a whole bunch more webrings, and elevates her status to Shakespearian actor. I was also stunningly amazed when I saw her pic on the official production page: http://www.midastouchproductions.com/ (don’t ask me why the font changed here, I haven’t’ a bloody clue) and thanks to those photo’s we have a pretty good guess that she’s about 5’5”.

I also figured out how to make these links look correctly here. It was under format, style, fonts. Now it doesn’t look like yellow chalk on a blackboard, which brought back bad memories from my last life.

If your wondering why all the recent updates, well I’m just gunning for a few more web awards. So fire up the simultini’s cause more good things are coming.

7/23/04 – Fri 50454

The Kate Maberly Screen Saver is here courtesy of http://www.imvamp.com/ and their wonderful tech support. I had a problem with windows having updated msvcrt.dll to a version that was not compliant with such programs as vamp, aim, and IE for crying out loud. I had to download an older version, and install it in dos. Makes me just want to smack someone at microsoft.

7/19/04 – Mon 50182

According to <http://www.peterpanfan.com/100anniv.html> Finding Neverland will have it’s world premier in Shreveport, Louisiana at a Peter Pan centennial celebration. Maybe, maybe not. The Shreveport art’s council website didn’t mention it, and neither does Miramax’s website, but they still display a coming soon banner for the trailer which is already on other websites.

I’m ecstatic that the page broke the 50,000 hit benchmark. I wonder if it will do 60,000 by the end of the year.

I changed the background on this page to make it a bit easier on the eyes. The all black background color with this yellow font was alright mean of me.

I’ve added Kate’s only known theatrical stage credit. She played Juliet in a production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. She performed on stage as a pianist back in February at London’s Cochran Theater playing Poulenc’s Elégie in Ballet Black directed by Cassa Pancho, but as I understand little about her involvement in that production I’ll leave that off her other works page.

Coming Soon: The Kate Maberly screen saver. While entirely unnecessary if you have a modern monitor, and mostly made for my ego with regards to this website, this sentence ends abruptly. It’s now in the testing phase, and I’m trying to specifically find the best free software for it.

On a personal note, I finally figured out what I wanna do when I grow up. I wanna be an author. I have ideas for several novels mostly in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. So that’s a big change for me.

7/1/04 – Thur 48978

I won the golden web award for 2003-2004 again, and have come to the conclusion that they are not going to have an award for 2004-2005.

Also registered with iWatchDog ICCS which is another, make sure my website is safe for children organization. Hey if it gets me more hits I’m all for it. So when I added their bit of meta tag to my own I changed the keywords, and now they are as follows: Kate Maberly, kate maberly, katemaberly, kate, maberley, mayberly, mayberley, the secret garden, celebrities, celebrity, actor, teen starlet, actress, starlet, child actor, Finding Neverland, langoliers, Stephen King, friendship’s field, gulliver’s travels, Mysteries of Egypt, Polly Maberly, Bruce Neibaur, catherine called birdie, mary lennox, anglo saxon attitudes, spatz, midsomer murders, victoria & albert, last of the blonde bombshells, mothertime, gobble, Simon: An English Legionnaire, deserter, as if, pfd, teacher, a touch of frost, gooseberries don’t dance, The Audition, Dora Bella Variation, walls of silence, international velvet, braniff airways, watts media, flight 29, The Secret Garden, movies, movie, star, movie star. Not that I expect you to care, I list them here because the search engine spiders will see them re-represented.

I also made a new website called SuperE: http://www.oocities.org/supere777/. My original plan was to create a top fifty site to unite individual gymnasts websites together so people like me could click through with relative ease to official and fan made sites alike. After I realized that I would have to ask them to join, and they are a bit tacky, I decided to make a webring instead as I thought they would be more likely to join. However, that too seemed to quickly turn into quite a hassle. Therefore, I made this gymnastics site instead.

I also made a Yahoo! Group for the expressed purpose of getting coaches, gymnasts, and judges to help explain to us the spectators, parents, and fans how it all actually works. http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/SuperE/.

6/28/04 – Mon 48713

Did a complete links test, and found that the Last of the Blonde Bombshells page is now off of HBO’s site.

I found that I neglected for years to have the word ‘the’ in front of Langoliers and Dora Bella Variation. Also added a few aka’s for some of the films she’s worked in, namely Stephen King’s The Langoliers. Added a link on the other works page to our short clips of A Touch of Frost.

And speaking of The Langoliers, I lmao’d when I read that her credit on the IMDb was changed to Dinah Catherine Bellman, which is not what it says on the end credits. You had to read the book to get that middle name. I bet some visitor to this site had them change it. Too bad it’s so hard for new movies to be added, as I’d love to see my name there for my work as assistant editor for Root Doctor, and to see The Audition. I hope to someday see that movie.

Removed the massive list of webrings I belong to, onto a separate page, cleverly called Gate 43. I also requested to join forty more. Twelve of them already approved me.

Applied again for fourth golden web award. I also applied for a few others, and found a few reasons why I’ve gotten so few of the good ones. For one thing I’m on geocities, which has an unbeatable price, but has popups, does not give me my own domain, and has a stigma I think, much like working in fast food. Since I don’t actually do much of any html coding, my site does not meet the WC3 recommendations for universal accessibility. And the thing about Flight 29 that has always bothered me is how it looks crappy for any screen resolution other than for what I design the individual page for. All good reasons to get with the program, stop scampering, and learn to use Dreamweaver.

Despite that depressing note, a few good things did come of my efforts. I learned to put the top button on my longer pages, and won majon’s web select award. I joined the top 50 list for child starlets. While Kate is no longer a child by any means, the bulk of her acting was done as a youth, so I figured this site would qualify. I wouldn’t be surprised if they remove me.

I also added several links, but none of them of particular note.

6/21/04 – Mon 48158

Two weeks ago I got by way of sheriff the divorce papers. So suffice it to say it to say I’m emotionally down. I’m still madly in love with her, and probably will be for years to come. We had agrees when this first started that we wouldn’t go to lawyers and that since she wanted this that she’d pay for it. Apparently she lied about this too.

To help cheer me up Sean took me to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Not bad, but I thought the quidditch scene coulda been better. I figured out why that movie was so late on the release. They spent all the time working on the end credits. Probably the most expensive credits in the history of Holy Wood. C.M.O.T. Dibbler woulda’ been proud, but there were no elephants. Wait. Wrong world.

My computer, apart from my reality, has been on the fritz too and now aim and IE do not work regularly. I’ve reinstalled windows eight times now, so I give up. I’ll use Mozilla and Yahoo! Instant messenger. goodlyshomepage is my id.

Found out that my personal page has the #1 spot on Google for the surreal dog, and my five rings page has #1 for Prismal the Outrageous. That’s all thanks in part due to the limited nature of my subjects on the web, and thanks to DMOZ.org. If you build websites, that is the place to register with. Aol, Yahoo!, Google and many other search engines pole from this place for links.

The whole family has partaken of the sport of Badminton. It’s quite fun. I’ve also been spending more time than I should on the Five Rings of Power campaign which we should start playing any day now…

Little Women is now available on CD and audio cassette. J.M Barrie’s Neverland appears to be renamed Finding Neverland, and now has a trailer available here. Scheduled for release in the US Friday, October 22nd and October 29th in the UK.

There is a new Kate Page on the internet. Found it by way of my webring, the author joined the Kate Maberly webring. Has some new pictures. It is the first external site to join my Kate Maberly webring. The pictures are from A Touch of Frost.

I think my hits on Flight 29 are growing exponentially and the Group now has over 250 members. I wonder what’s it’s going to be like when Finding Neverland hits theaters, or even trailers! I have more hits than all of the terminator fan sites I’ve found.

5/3/04 – Mon 45010

I’ve found on the IMDb a few more celebrities that share Kate’s birthday (March 14th), namely Mercedes McNab who plays Harmony Kendall on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Angel (two of my favorite shows), Sir Michael Caine, and Liesel Mathews of A Little Princess (also written by Frances Hodgson Burnett and the movie is often sold with The Secret Garden) and Air Force One with Harrison Ford which was directed by Wolfgang Petersen who also shares Kate’s Birthday.

Looks like Kate only has a bit role in J.M. Barrie’s Neverland. Found that out from some people who have seen a preview and mentioned it in our group and on the IMDb message board for Kate. Sad news.

Added the link above since this page can be and is often found directly by those searching for Kate Maberly on search engines. I’ve also added the group’s link to many other groups, and even created a zip file with various celebrity photo’s in an attempt to spam the Gnutella network when I’m using Bearshare. So far I’ve had zero uploads that I’m aware of. I wonder how many hits I might get if I type in Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Twins here. I’ve also added these keywords to the group: celebrity, star, starlet, actor, child actress, teen actress, young actress, youth, Hollywood, film, movie, movies, photos, gallery, showbiz, TV.

Did you know that Christopher Columbus is one of the most searched for strings in November? Wonder why.

I am now uploading this page to my personal page (The Goodly Dragon’s Homepage)

http://www.oocities.org/goodlyshomepage/ as some of my personal thoughts an feelings are found here.

I’m also plugging this link http://rainforest.care2.com/ for charitable reasons. Click to save the rainforest, please.

4/23/04 – Fri 44265

Uploaded new thumbnail galleries Daniel Deronda, Victoria & Albert, Mysteries of Egypt, Last of the Blonde Bombshells, and I rearranged the other’s section with one new and watermarked Secret Garden picture. Other galleries will be coming soon.

Most likely from now on, all these pages will start looking far more professional as I now have a copy of Dreamweaver MX 2004.

I now have a Webshots account where you can order prints from the digital pictures.

http://community.webshots.com/user/captengle

I also sepll checked the whole webpage.

Dave and Jackie broke up, with Dave still in Atlanta. It looks like I’ll be here for a while. At least I’ve got family. I’ve been ‘hired’ by my father to build a couple of pages and am working on his short film, “Root Doctor”, so maybe I’ll accomplish a goal of mine: to see my name in the IMDb. Then I will be able to answer the question that everyone reading this is asking, how many degrees of separation do I have from Kevin Bacon?

4/8/04 –Thur 43033

Well, now I am at my father’s house in North Carolina. My mother has divorced my other father, my stepfather of 24 years. I don’t feel as broken as before, and am soon moving to Atlanta Georgia with Dave and Jackie. In the mean time I am enjoying my time with my brothers, Sean, Robert and Patrick; playing Bridge, and AD&D (2e) into the we hours and listening to the Old Blind Dogs, Jethro Tull, Silly Wizard, Blackmore’s Night, Chumbawumba, Gordon Bok, Big Kenny, Squirrel Nut Zippers and The Offspring.

My computer broke briefly, with the power pack dieing. $14 and two weeks later I’m back up with the luxury of broadband. This here updates page was delayed, because the local college lab does not have Word installed.

I did a major resurfacing of Kate Maberly’s Flight 29, adding more detailed information on all pages; removing text based links on all pages save this one and Elephants in the Garden. I added the fancy-dance Internet Explorer page transition, which is only available to users with IE 6 or better (sorry Mac, Linux and Unix users). I registered with the ICRA (the main certification site for web content censoring), and did other such submissions to increase traffic. I added Mothertime, Last of the Blonde Bombshells, and Victoria & Albert movie/front lot pages. Removed the rumors page, mainly because I don’t think Kate would appreciate it, even though she lets so little information about her escape. I still don’t know of any fan having an autograph or a candid picture.

I’ve found that this page in particular is one that is easy to find on the web, Mysteries of Egypt is the most popular of the movie pages and Victoria and Albert is the most popular of the new sites.

Ten thousand hits in five months. Not bad at all, given the subject. The group broke past 200 members too. If you want the latest on Kate and some pictures not yet found on my website, then that is where you should go.

Nuashealainn and kenjabin have been made moderators for contributing to the group, not just in posts, but also in a wealth of new high quality screencaps. They’ve also given me permission to put them on the website, so hopefully I get that done shortly. I guess I won’t be needing to make my own.

Federico has redone the audio on Mothertime, and as soon as I have that downloaded, that will be the one that will be shipped. His server is awfully slow, and down at the moment.

Date written 1/06/04 – Tue Unknown page hits

If you read the eGroup frequently then you know my life has taken a turn for the worse. On Wednesday, the 26th of November my wife of nearly four months informed me that she wanted a divorce. She told me that she was not in love with me and never was, that she was only in love with being in love. This has made me into a broken man. It will take me several years to get over her, and I can’t seem to make myself give up hope that she’ll come back to me. I’m as in love with her as I ever was. She was my reason for living. She was my life.

So I write this at my mother’s house. Here we have no phone and therefore no internet. I have no idea when this is going to be uploaded or what the page hit counter will say. Other bad luck has also befallen me such as a broken car, no car insurance, and I lost my job. But that’s begging to turn around. I bought a bike and now have a McJob at Arby’s. So my priorities are to get a car, move out of my mother’s house, get back on the internet to finish college, and to go to flight school.

With great thanks to Matthew Smolovich aka matsmol and Federico aka macefindu I now have a copy of Mothertime. As I mentioned on the message board, I am willing to make copies for all who want it. It is Divix format, which is small enough to fit on a CD ROM. It was recorded off the air, from the Europa Europa channel with Spanish subtitles. The audio is also of a poor quality, but who cares! If you want a copy, send me an email goodlyshomepage@yahoo.com with your name and mailing address. Seeing as how I am a poor man, I do ask you cover postage and cost of the CD and jewel case. I’m going to try to set up my paypal account so that you could send the payment electronically, however for now a snail mailed check or money order will have to do. I will not charge for handling, or time and effort or any of that. I’m not trying to make a profit off of this. So the final cost would be postage from New Jersey, USA (or wherever I’m living them) to your mailing address plus $1.00 for CD and jewel case.

Poll was concluded, 5 to 3 with one not caring. Oh well, guess it means less work for me unless I want to post.

My Star Site award has been upgraded to four stars.

Kate’s agent’s page has added a new film title, Deserter. So I almost added it as well, until I realized that it’s Simon: An English Legionnaire by a different name.

I promoted the following members: matsmol, jeff, garyhu aka Matthew Smolovich, Jeff, and Gary A. Hughes. I do this because they have posted frequently in the group. I appreciate that. It makes the sum total of Kate Maberly on the net a richer thing.

Apparently, Friendship’s Field is now available on DVD. Now I know what I want for Christmas! Told my wife and everything! I got it the first time on VHS back in 97’ Link: http://www.familytv.com/title_ado.asp?SID=199913894650&PID=245

Had to play with the webring thingy. Apparently they reverted to making all of the webrings show up on the page. And with the number I’ve joined, that’s too many. So I made it so that only the rings you are presently surfing are displayed.

Not much else to report. Has been mostly quite on the Kate front. Now back to you, Bob.

10/01/03 – Wed 31292

Best friend’s Birthday. Dave. He was also my best man. Happy Birthday. He’s 29, with two lovely daughters, Lily and Josey. Makes me wonder where my own childhood went.

Never go to Cancun. If you do, never stay at the Sheraton. If you do, don’t come back here.

Registered with SafeSurf, in a silly effort to boost traffic. Also won a well-deserved Too Much coffee award.

Found a really cool link. The oracle of Bacon. Here you can find out who the degrees of separation any actor had from Kate.

Kate’s online resume states “and has [Kate] just finished playing the role of JULIET in a production of ROMEO AND JULIET in Cyprus.” Which begs the questions, was it a live play, a recording for TV or radio or what??

Poll on the group seems to favor staying with yahoo 4 to 3. I’ll leave the poll open a little while longer. Glad to see the elist so active lately.

Okay, okay, I’ve been a total schmuck, and left this website unattended for far too long. I could make excuses, but I’d rather just apologize. In any case it seems to me the world of Kate Maberly is a slow moving one anyway.

Kate has been in a radio play, The Dora Bella Variation by Celia de Wolfe. Kate was Dora. More about that can be found on my Kate Maberly other works section and on the Yahoo! Group.

Daniel Deronda is available on DVD.

Neverland update: release date is for November 2004. They have an official move page too: http://www.miramax.com/jmbarries_neverland/#

Website stats for my index page

Total page views to date                                   25686  [which means either my page counter is high or this is low, most likely this doesn’t count refreshes and is based on cookies whereas the counter is based on total loads.]

Highest monthly page views                              1700 in March 2003  [Happy birthday]

Most popular browser visitors use                     67.89% use MSIE 6.0  [no surprise there: netscape, aol, and msn browsers suck]

Most common screen resolution visitors have    58.94% have 800x600  [which is what my site is designed for]

Top search engine used to access this page       99.17% use www.google.com  [Boy do I feel lucky]

Top search word used to find this page             93.82% typed "kate maberly"

This page is linked to most often from this URL 30.46% of visitors link from http://www.google.com/search

Recently promoted to group moderator: duvallwriter aka Ian King, and napone0 aka Nate. Thanks for contributing. Posted a poll to see if y’all want to move to another venue. I’m sick and tired of Yahoo!’s bullshit service. Free is good, but we can do better.

I really never liked my Kate Maberly Other Works page so I redid it. With updates in all the right places. I also won, or rather earned a Diamond Web award, level 1. Also, as a natural high, on a Google search for “Kate Maberly” if you’re feeling lucky, you’ll get my site right away. Cool as beans. We’re also now listed in the open directory project (dmoz.org), which most major search engines (such as Google, Aol, Msn, and Yahoo!) get their base list from. Also got third Golden Web award. Now to get four stars from Starpages.net …

Seeing as how I’ll be getting married in two weeks, going on honeymoon to Cancun, moving, enrolling in online courses, and finding a new job I might not be back for a month or so with new updates.

1/22/03 – Wed 20161

No major updates in the land of Kate Maberly. She as a new radio credit, Little Women that was produced by Philip Glassborough; which reminds me of the town where one of my best friends lives, Glassboro. My website won another Golden Web award, and those do not grow on trees. Alan Simmonds uploaded a few clips of Daniel Deronda.

Did not quite reach goal of 20,000 members for New Year. Was off by two weeks or so. And the club goal was blown to lutz by the fnords at yahoo. Sorry for the dren mouth just then, but I suspect that unless you watch the best show ever, Farscape, you don’t know what the frell I’m talking about.

David Morse, who played Captain Engle, my screename-sake, is in a new show on NBC called Hack. It takes place in Philadelphia, which only a half-hour away from me. An interesting coincidence if you ask me. He plays a dirty cop, who got caught, and is now playing good guy while driving a hack (taxi cab). He’s still not a nice guy, which is nice to see on national television. Disney and Ralph Nader have infected our senses. We need more George Carlins in this world.

On a personal note, I’m now engaged to my girlfriend Stefanie Layton. Wedding date set for September 7th.

Ach! For some reason my GDragon777 account was nuked by Yahell! For some un-described violation of the tos, and since I used that account to create the club, KateMaberly, it too was wiped out. There is now a new club Kate_Maberly. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Kate_Maberly/ so please feel free to join. Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused, and as always, I’m not liable for any damages you may have incurred because of that loss. See my disclaimer for more details.

9/17/02 – Tue 14580

Been a while since I updated the updates page. Summertime is the slow time for the internet. Always picks up in the fall so its time for me to get crackin’. Kate’s in a few new things for us to see: a TV movie, Daniel Deronda; a real movie Neverland co-starring Kate Winslet, Dustin Hoffman, Radha Mitchell, Julie Christie, and Johnny Depp, expected in theater sometime in the fall of 2003; and Simon: An English Legionnaire which, by the way, is fare easier to say than it is to type.

We are averaging 30 hits a day. Could be someone has this homepage listed as his start page, or maybe they are people checking back for changes, or better yet, newcomers. My goal is 20,000 hits by the end of the year, and 200 club members. Today we have 145.

Thanks to Alan Simmonds we have some new avi movie files in the group. I deleted a few of the older movies to make room. They still can be found on the movie pages however. He, of course, was promoted to moderator for his efforts. Hopefully there won’t be such a long expanse between updates in the future. I’m still busy with building a career, finishing college, and enjoying the fruits of my completed life-quest of finding my soulmate.

4/25/02 – Thur 10030

Happy Webmaster day, I broke 10,000 hits yesterday. I think that is quite an accomplishment, but then again what do I know? I’ve been busy adding a mirror page for the movie clips page, in case a couple people want all of the files in one day. They can be gotten on the movie clip pages or in the files section of the group. All three have limited daily bandwidth. Also I’d like to mention, that while I intend to maintain this site until the day I die, the universe may have something else in mind, so if you see something on this website you’d like to keep I suggest you save it now as things on the web have a tendency to disappear. I hope that is not a prophecy. I try to keep backups of everything, but I may not be redundant enough, especially if something happens to all of Yahoo!

4/4/02 – Thur 9353

I had to make a few changes to the index page and to the Secret Garden page in order to reduce bandwidth. The downloading of the videos and the music were overdrawing my allotted 3 gigs a month so I moved the clips to a separate page and id as well as uploaded them to the files section of the group. The music can only be found there. We now have 103 members in the group but very little activity in the message board and yet we average over 250 hits a week. What’s up with that? Everybody: post!

3/14/02 – Thur 8558

We now have a Yahoo! Group rather than a club. I think it’s a better format than before, although the new format cost us a few members and now we have less than a 100. No great loss, I’m sure we’ll make that up quickly. The members rw21001, octoberrain66, cometus260 have been made moderators due to their frequent postings. Other frequent posters will be treated the same. The group format gives me the advantage of making people moderators without giving them all the powers such as the ability to delete the group. You can also post to the group via email, if you change your settings so that your email address is visible to us’ins. Hope to hear from you there.

            http://groups.yahoo.com/group/katemaberly/

I’ve lost regular internet access and can only get on via the college or a library, so updates will be even fewer and new vidcaps are out of the question. So be warned David Pegg.

Happy Birthday Kate! She turned twenty today! Many happy returns of the day!

2/3/02 – Sun 7270

Tic-tac-toe three Sundays in a row. We breached 100 members in the club, and I’ve updated the Kate Maberly’s Other Works section quite a bit (well quite a bit for a Kate Maberly website anyway). IMDb has been busy. According to my site stats indicator, my index page gets the most hits, with the Rumors page following it and this page following that. The highest amount of hits my index page ever got was 1152 in November. The only search engine that seems to get me hits is Google. Got more awards.

Once again, this is your site as much as it is mine, so tell me what you want out of it and I’ll try to comply.

1/20/02 – Sun 6804

Looks like I’ll be living at home and going to school for the net year. I’m confident this is my last opportunity to do such. Dunno' when I’ll finish my computer, or when I’ll have those vidcaps and the like. I’ll continue to update this page as I get new things to update. We are nearly at 100 members in the club, so I might start trying group chats or the ilk.

12/30/01 – Sun 6113

I haven’t been around much, so there’s little to report. My own computer is not yet working, and I’ve been slow to work on it. I won the Orchid Award for page Excellence. Should have Mothertime within a couple of months to make copies of, as well as hopefully vidcaps and movie clips from all of her movies. All in due time. Lots of hits, some as leftovers from Sci-Fi channels airing of Langoliers, some from HBO’s airing of Last of the Blonde Bombshells, some from the banner, the rest are from you. This last week however has been slow. So has the message board this last month.

Somebody had a bunch of info added to the IMDb, so I put the same data on my page namely her sibling’s names and her full name. I now regret putting that on my page, as I hate my middle name to be used. Oops. Well Kate my dear, if you ever read this, feel free to call me by my middle name as often as you wish. “To a high standard” is now quoted on three different pages. “Skipped an earlier year of school”… my words exactly. At least I know Ira’s last name, hehehe.

11/22/01 – Thur 5060

It’s Thanksgiving; dinner is over with, well mostly. I might stop gorging tomorrow. I think anyway. Won the Critical Mass award for this site. Not too shabby. I may need to boot a troublemaker out of the club soon. His posts aren’t too nasty, just belligerent. Have a banner at the top of the page that I put there as an exchange. I get two impressions for every five I display. If I didn’t have that annoying popup I could have an even better one. I’m also now going out with my best friend Jaimee. That is either doomed, or will be for life. Let you know in thirty years or so. We got five hundred hits in twelve days, thanks to Sci-Fi Channel playing The Langoliers in Friday Prime, during sweeps.

11/10/01 – Sat 4507

Mr. Brooke Watts gave me a .wav file to add to my page, which is part of one of the videos his company made wherein Kate narrated. Message board on the Yahoo! club has been unusually active with uk_langolier claiming to go to the same school as Kate, and with rw212001uk, and braniffpages (who is Mr. Brooke Watts) posting a bunch the fun is almost more than I can take. Life is getting too good. Next thing I’ll find out either Kate herself will join the club, or announce her presence, or the negative side will win and the club or webpage will be deleted, or maybe just it will be local and this part of the country will lose power due to terrorist actions.

I’m now going to list the number on the hit counter as part of the update in an effort to track the progress. Also added a linky for Starpages.net, as well as deleted a few link directory sites that were supposed to link to me and opted not to. I also added a banner for cauce (the Coalition Against Unsolicited Commercial Email which is also known as spam). Added a banner exchange in a valiant effort to increase hits.

The update plan: by January I hope to have new vidcaps and short movie clips to load to the page. I also hope to move to a server with unlimited bandwidth and no pop-ups, and add a flash intro to the site, once I figure out how to do that, go through the motions of doing it. I’d also like to have a few contests with maybe videos as prizes. One idea for such a contest: fanfic!

11/6/01 – Tue

Added the ‘add my site to your favorites/bookmarks’ script. I’ve wanted to do that for months. Found out the Yahoo! banner exchange is over with (GeoGuide), so we are stuck with that annoying pop-up, unless of course you have a pop-up killer. Did a little housecleaning, added a promo thingy for my eGroup in the Rumors section, since that is the most visited part of this website, other than the index page. That also doesn’t include the picture gallery as that is under another Yahoo! id, and the club and eGroup as they are in totally separate sections of Yahoo! But you knew that already.

Somehow in the last 24 hours we managed 100 hits and seven people joined that frelling club.  So we now passed 4350 hits. Go figure.

11/2/01 – Fri

Well I suppose most of us die-hards have seen and taped Victoria & Albert off of A&E. With her having only a minute of screen time, I think I’ll settle for my homemade copy rather than going for the DVD. Speaking of DVD’s, Y’all have a little something to look forwards to: I’m close to finishing the building of my very own computator; in fact I have the CPU sitting right here next to me. It’s an AMD Athlon XP 1800. It would say hullo if it where all plugged in and such. I’ll do that tomorrow and as soon as I get that video crunching monster online and get around to making vidcaps, I’ll make fresh vidcaps of MoE, A&V, FF by FFFF, SG (from DVD), Langoliers (also from DVD) and maybe Gulliver’s (from camcorder aimed at television). If you have anything specific you’d like me to vidcap, let me know. Also if you have the ever-rare Mothertime, I’d love to vidcap that (I will find a way to convert to NTSC if necessary).

This site was made in the great US of A by illegal immigrants. Stolen from Hammerlock’s now nonexistent Kate site. I hope he doesn’t mind, as his nickname comes from wrestling, and I’m not talking about something like the WWF pansies either.

10/11/01 – Thur

It’s been a while, but with the crash-crash-boom-boom in NYC I haven’t felt too web-like and further I’ve been busy getting ready to move and buying the parts to build myself my very own computer. I almost feel like a big boy now and maybe in a few more lifetimes I’ll feel like an adult. I’ll try not to offer more excuses but I might forget. D'oh.

Kate’s been credited in a new movie, Simon. Elifino anything about it (an elifino: cross between and elephant and a Rhinoceros). Guess it’s British. Any input would be appreciated.

Also added that grainy intro on the mainpage. It’s from Catherine Called Birdie, or Little Bird, as part of the end credits. Cleverly recorded by Windows Sound Recorder, a cheap microphone, and my little sister’s old tape deck.

Hey look, the date’s symmetrical or an anagram!

8/28/01 – Tue

Redid the main page to give it a new look, and added and an ‘about this site’ page just to tell you how I did on this nifty htmling. It’s now meant to act something like a tour. I envision it to be a cross with Universal Studios, the San Diego Zoo with a touch of Stephen King and Disney Land. (I know the above words don’t belong in this same sentence together, but hey, that’s Hollywood for ya’)

I also added five links from pages that are supposed to link back to me. Should they chose to link back to me, I’ll be nice and change their category. Should you ever link to me, I’ll be happy to link to you. If you use my banner, I’ll use yours. Simple as that my friend. GeoGuide is now on most of my pages to avoid that little popup you see/saw in the upper right corner of this here page.

8/21/01 – Tue

Added a nifty piece of JavaScript I sliced from a Webmaster page that kills the frames you came in. Hotmail and other greedy page mongers like to stifle your net experience by having their ads on your window when you’re not on their stinking site anymore. That just sucks to the highest degree, so I say we don’t have to take it. All frames are now killed on first sighting.

Also added The Official Andrew Knott homepage to me links, and even invited Mr. Knott to join us in the club. Hope he comes.

To make the hits counter go up a few more, I added our friendly flight to a few more webrings. Even made one of my own, curiously titled Kate Maberly for some reason that now has left me at this late hour. Damn, coffee mug empty too. That ring is open to any Kate site, and any site that is about any movie or show that Kate was in, or about any actor or actress that she stared with.

Added a bit to the rumors page, although I may have to deny one of them later. JB=8)

8/9/01 –Thur

And the surreal dog said let there be a gallery, and then there was, but there wasn’t even a picture of a diet bone to be found. And the Gulliver’s Travels Galleries, and the Secret Garden Galleries, and even the Langoliers Galleries were incomplete, albeit nicely arranged. And Magus Perdé yanked that frelling chain, and Joe was still a government plant, interested mostly in cannibalism. So Surreal wandered off to go bother the Duke of Prunes, and the gallery was taken by Perdé and put in the magickal realm known as the internet, for all who know the name of Kate to find and see. Nothing has been the same since.

And due to some (mis)fortune or perhaps just due to a song by the greatly underrated Big Kenny, the Secret Garden page did receive rants, and did receive quotes to be sold on the black market. So Joe alone will profit by this, and the government will try to tax it, but all in vane.

Surreal was last seen walking along The Strand.

8/7/01 – Tue

Added pictures to my Friendship’s Field and Mysteries of Egypt pages. Hope no one gives a hoot about the copyright issue on MoE page, and I can’t seem to get a hold of Kris Hallas to ask his permission for the FF and other movies and pictures soon coming. Upload his Friendship’s Field MP3 as well as his one from Mothertime. Also added a few of my own avi’s taken from the storybook CD-rom.

I also put my banner on my disclaimer page, should you wish to link me, I’d love for you to use that.

And just for kicks and the chance of finding more fans I made a Yahoo! group and this sentence just a wee bit longer:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TheKateMaberlyGroup

8/3/01 – Fri

Added the Updates page, so y’all can track what changes I’ve made to this page and so on and so forth.

Nuked the guestbook. It only had two entries, mine and someone who told me to stop thinking of Kate and to go get a girlfriend. Yahoo!/geocities’s guestbook wasn’t working for new entries, so I went with a dreambook. I’m quite please so far, and since I seem to be averaging a hundred hits a week I think it’s high time I had something like this, even though half of them are from me reloading the page as I check out my constant little changes. Cheers.
