Café Nervosa

Café Nervosa is where Frasier and Niles meet up for lunch or coffee. Seattle is well known for its coffee-houses and when the producers needed a non-home, non-work setting, a coffee-house was the obvious choice. It is located on the corner of Pike and Third Streets, opposite the KACL studios which is how Frasier first discovered it. Sometimes other members of the KACL staff, such as Roz, Bulldog or Gil visit the Café, though this is normally to talk to Frasier.

Frasier and Niles often meet up here to escape pressures on their lives such as Martin or Maris for a while. The Café serves many types of coffee and Niles often tries several varieties. His "usual" though is a latte, with nutmeg and cinnamon. Frasier normally orders a double kona with cream, although both Crane brothers can be very picky and choosy over what they actually order.

The Café has many waiters and waitresses. Some are only there temporally, others have been there for a few years, such as the Waitress, played by Luck Hari. Other significant waiters include Eric, who dated Daphne for a while, Rick, the father of Roz's daughter Alice who is currently in Paris studying for college, and James, who has been working there since 2001.

It was at Café Nervosa where Frasier first met Niles after he returned to Seattle. It was there that Frasier and Niles decided that Martin should live with Frasier in the first episode. And it was there where Frasier gave Doug Harvey (John Cygan) the "Etiquette Lesson" (i.e Frasier picked up Doug Harvey after he stole Frasier's seat and threw him out of the Café) in 1996.

Cafe Nervosa is owned by Maureen Nervosa. In 2003 she hired a folk singer, Ben, to perform at the Cafe, to the delight of all her customers - except Frasier Crane.

The name "Nervosa" is a psychological term meaning "the deliberating psychological addiction to an object, belief or behavioural pattern". Hence it was an appropiate name for the producers to choose, since Frasier and Niles seem to spend an awful lot of time there!
