History

Moose was a Jack Russell terrier born in a Florida barn on December 24, 1990. He was the fourth and last puppy of the litter. He was difficult as a puppy and after almost destroying the house of his first owners, Connie and Sam Thise, Moose was given to a blacksmith where he was just as bad. He was returned to the Thises. Just minutes before the Thise family went mad, fate intervened. Kathy Morrison, who worked for Birds and Animals Unlimited, a talent agency for animals, stopped at the veterinarian's office where Connie Thise worked. By a stroke of luck, Moose was there too. Kathy fell in love with him and adopted him. She trained him in Orlando for Birds and Animals Limited. Not long afterwards Moose landed a starring role in the Universal production Animal Actors Showcase.

Moose then moved to Hollywood. He auditioned for the role of Eddie and luckily won the part. He played Eddie for the first 8 seasons on Frasier, but due to old age he was replaced by his son Enzo (whom Moose does not actually get on with that well!). Although Moose and Enzo look similar, they are not exactly alike, so keep an eye out when watching an episode from Seasons 7-11 to see who is playing Eddie, as both of them would often take it in turns to play Eddie.

Both Moose and Enzo were trained by Mathilde DeCagney, whom they have absolute devotion to. Sometimes they didn't do what he should have straight away, so the other actors had to wait for them to do whatever they should have been doing, which often took some time. Nevertheless, both Moose and Enzo got on well with the other actors and normally managed to do everything right.

As well as Eddie in Frasier, Moose also appeared in many Discovery and Discovery Animal Planet productions, as well as The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, Late Night with David Letterman, The Phil Donahue Show and Leeza. He also advertised a Super Bowl Spot for Rold Gold.

Moose has appeared in several films. He played the role of Stanley Ipkiss's dog Milo in The Mask (1994) and also played the title role in the film My Dog Skip playing the older Skip; Enzo playing the younger one.

Both Moose and Enzo have graced the covers of US magazines TV Guide, Entertainment Weekly and, rather appropriately, Seattle Cigar Lifestyle. Moose also has his own calendar and an autobiography, My Life As A Dog, which is a dog's view on his life. Both dogs recieved lots of fan mail, apparently more than any other member of the cast!!!

Sadly Moose died in 2006 of old age (he was nearly 115 in dog years). He died peacefully at home and is mourned by Frasier fans the world over. Enzo is still around however and is still at work with Mathilde DeCagney.
