Billy Gilman is a 12-year-old Country music singer
with an amazing talent and a phenomenal voice. Growing up in Rhode Island,
he started singing at the age of three after seeing Pam Tillis sing her
hit song "Cleopatra Queen of Denial," on a TV special. At age five his
parents bought him a karaoke machine. At eight his mother and grandmother
took him to see a vocal coach by the name of Angela Bacari, who took Billy
on as a student. After a few introductions, Billy met Ray Benson (Asleep
at the Wheel) who took Billy to his studio's in Austin, Texas to record
Billy's demo CD. Shortly after his 11th birthday, Billy sang with Asleep
at the Wheel at the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville. This led to Scott Siman
become one of his managers, and to his record deal with Sony Music Nashville/Epic
Records. Three weeks before his 12th birthday, at the Academy of Country
Music Awards, Billy made his presence known to the music industry with
an outstanding, show-stopping rendition of "Roly Poly" with Asleep at the
Wheel. Billy's debut single, "One Voice", about seeing some of the every
day violence and problems through a child's eyes, quickly became CMT's
most requested video as Billy's CD started a steady climb up the charts.
Within a few short months Billy saw his dreams of having a tour bus, performing
on the Grand Ole Opry and being a professional singer all come true. |
