Remember, mouse over pictures, shows a different pic. I know there's alot of people who don't like to hike because it is alot of work, you get tired, you get hot, but most of all you get thirsty, which mean lugging up water w/ you for however many miles your travelling that day. Personally, I think the more tired you get the lighter your load gets since you're drinking water on your way up. There's two methods you can take to hiking, one is beautiful scenery throughout the hike, this usually includes, trees lined trails, waterfalls, etc... the best time for these hikes are spring and autumn (to my experience. The second method you can use to hiking is the regular boring old trail that goes up to the top of a mountain for a gorgeous view, (these are the ones that are most common), trails that just go back and forth, and back and forth till you reach the beautiful mountain top. I recommend these trails in early morning or late afternoon as they usually have very little relief from the sun. |

My hiking buddy as most of you know is my dog, Diesel; however, some of my other favorite hiking buddies have been up in Colorado. They included Carlin, (an ex-girlfriend), Paige, (a friend), Tracey (another friend), both of whom I only got the opportunity to go hiking w/ once but our dogs got along so great, they played most of the way. Lauren was another good friend who went on a hike w/ me, but her dogs were a bit more mature and didn't play like Diesel wanted them to, they'd put him in his place. Oh well. We still enjoyed the hike. Btw, my favorite hikes so far have been, Gray Rock, Button Rock, El Dorado Cyn, and a trail here in Santa Monica, Temescal Cyn., (the only problem w/ that was that they didn't allow dogs past a certain point). Well, whatever your opinion is on hiking, you have to admit, it's a great form of exercise. |
