Very interesting and dissappointing. Not in a bad way by any means!! Hunting in the Trinity River bottom is very competitive. Everybody wants to guide and leave blinds in every good spot while only hunting one at a time. It kind of makes hunting like ussian roulette. If you don't get your spot situated and someone tries to boot you out becouse they have a piece of shit blind in the hole that hasn't been hunted in two years, you either have it out or you miss the morning hunt..... However, I have alw ys believed that the further back you go and the harder it is to get too (1000-1500yd walks) through the mud (gear and all) the better the hunting is and the less likely someone will give you probablems. When I look at your pictures, I see what every hun er wants.. His own place!! I am currently in outside rental business ventures to secure my own 200acres in Brookshire, TX where rice farming is nine tenths of the business and it also produces some great water fowl and goose hunting. Nice Site and I'll be back!

What do you hunt?: whatever we can coax into the spread, this year it was mostly ringnecks, gadwalls, teal, and woodies the Canadas got run off the lake two weeks into the season due to people jump shooting them in bass boats, (cock suckers) howeve shot a couple of cans and saw a few pintails both whick are a rarity for us since we are the furthest thing from a flyway. Shot a fair number of Widgeon but they skipped town the first time it got remotely cold and what we say is cold isn't too bad.

Enjoyed youpage. We hunt Anchor Bay on Lake St. Clair in S.E. Michigan, we go to the U.P. in the early season and end our yearly hunt ibn the Bayou Meto in S.E. Arkansas. I did not start waterfowl hunting until I was 40. It has become a passion for myself and my hunting partners. One close hunting buddy even has videos on T.V. on occassion. He is also a licensed charter boat captain on the Great Lakes. We spend many enjoyable hours talking about Waterfowl Hunting on his boat. WE also do alot of layout shoo ing on Lake St. Clair with our taxidermist. I became so enamored with the sport that the second year, I designed my own camoflage pattern for use here in the marshes of Michigan. It was called Bullrush but I did not have the resources to compete with the ill Jordans of the world so the screens are in storage in Connecticut. Anyway, I've gotten too long winded already so I will sign off now. Excellent site! It is great to see someone who not only has enthusiasm for our sport, but shares it with others. I am new to the sport of Goose hunting, here in the Old Dominion and was wondering if you could answer these questions for me. Does 15 to 25 mph winds keep geese on the field or do they fly in that much wind? What are typically times that geese fly, mor ing or evening? If you could pass other tips and info., I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

My brother and I are purchasing 15 acres below Modoc hunting lake in the bottoms (around Valmeyer Illinois - approximately 1 to 2 miles from the Mississippi). We will be flooding corn and putting in permanent blinds to lease out next year (2000). From th research I have done and with my experience hunting, it should be one of the hottest potholes for mallards and wood ducks in the whole entire state. Not to mention the wood cover we will have for the little birdies to land one mile from the big muddy. ook for "Paces Flyway" in the near future. Enjoyed you web site enormously. Its nice to see someone who is as keen as me. My real love is goose shooting with my 8 bore gun. 8 bore guns are quite legal in England for ducks and geese. My 8 was built in about 1880 and has a fine Damascus twist 42inch barrel. It throws upto 3ozs of English nr 1 shot.It will kill a Canada goose stone dead at up to 80 yards. For decoying I use a 12 bore side by side sidelock ejector gun. We are about to face the banning of lead shot which is to be introduced for the forthcomming season. The group I hunt with are all getting to old and lazy to work the marsh here in La.But I guess we'll keep on keeping on, we have about 1200 acres of marsh land at our disposal in the Creol La area for hunting and trapping fur and alligators.
