Tekken's Movie Reviews
For readers who like to know why I rate the movies the way that I do, this site
is for you.
You have to keep in mind that this will take considerable time and that not all
movies will have reviews. I will start with the most recent movies that I have
watched and go from there. Keep coming back for more updates.
The reviews will not be in any particular order although I might put them in
alphabetical order in the future once there are more reviews.
Kill Bill
I was a big fan of Pulp Fiction. I liked the dialogue in the movie. It was very
original at that time. Witty. Funny. Humorous. It's like what we might hear in
our every day conversations. Resevoir Dogs was also like that. Both movies also
had something else in common. They were both extremely violent. Off the top of
my head, I can name a couple of these scenes from these movies. Who can forget
about the scene where the gun accidently fires and hits the head of the guy in
the back seat which splatters blood all over the car in Pulp Fiction. Who can
forget about the scene where a guy is being tortured on the chair during an
interrogation? Well, if you wanted some of the witty dialogue trademarked from
Quentin Tarantino, the director, then you will have to re-watch the previous two
movies from him. If you wanted to see some very violent scenes, then at least
you've got that. Have you watched japanese samurai movies? Well, you've got that
in this movie. It also features a cool character, Gogo. Her weapon of choice is
is a spiked ball on a chain which she uses on her foes and Uma Thurman. I liked
this movie a lot. I can't wait for Kill Bill. Volume 2 to be released in the
theaters. 9/10.

Loving Him
There is a footpath in the field
that has been long forgotten which
is on the hills facing the sun.
In the bushes there are some sunflowers.
They are golden, with a smiling face.
It knows where the sunshine is.
Let us be quiet.
Adore the beautiful sight and enjoy life.
As you can tell by the quote taken from the movie, this will be an emotional
movie. It does the job well because of the sad elements. It has one funny scene
in the movie but for the most part, if you are looking for a good cry, then you
will want to watch this movie. A cinderella is looking for her glass slippers and
she does find her prince. He is close yet so far away. I won't spoil too much for
you. Just watch this movie. 9/10.

Bringing Down the House
I was expecting lots of laughs from this movie. The trailer for the movie looks
funny. It doesn't disappoint that much. I still laughed at the scene where Queen
Latifah wakes up from her sleep and punches Steve Martin in the face. Queen Latifah's
cat fight with Steve Martin's ex-wife's sister in the bathroom is a memorable.
The movie isn't that memorable besides the laughs though because of the flimsy
plot line. 7/10.

Metropolis
Visually stunning. An anime with exquisite details. Everything in Metropolis was
drawn with amazing details which results in sometimes overwhelming visuals and
I was left to wonder where to look at. Very colourful. The soundtrack is jazzy and
orchestral. A robot is created in Metropolis and she is supposed to take over the
world. She escapes from destruction and finds that she has feelings for Kenichi.
She wonders if she is a robot or a human. The director that created Astroboy is
back and it is reminiscent of that weekly cartoon series that I used to watch
when I was younger. The plot is kind of complicated and it gets muddled but because
of the visual eye candy, I give this one 7/10.

Run Lola Run
I never wanted to watch this movie when it first hit the screens. It just didn't
appear interesting to me. After hearing recommendations of how excellent this
movie was, I gave it another try. You have to watch it in original German with
the subtitles. I just couldn't bear watching it dubbed in english. It is sort of
like Groundhog Day or Sliding Doors. It's still an original concept. A girl tries
to save his boyfriend's life by trying to help him obtain 100,000 marks. A series
of what would, occurs. It was very well done. I enjoyed it a lot. The only thing
I wished was that there had been more scenarios to be shown. 8/10.

One Hour Photo
This movie will make me think the next time that I get my photos developed. Robin
Williams plays a creepy character. You feel that he is doing something wrong and
yet he is trying to prevent harm to his so-called "relationships". In a way, he
makes it seem like it isn't wrong. Two wrongs does not make a right though. Was
I supposed to feel sorry for his character? I didn't. I felt creeped out by the
scene of his wall though. The movie kind of moved too slowly for me, yet it wasn't
a very long movie. 7/10.

Brazil
I thought that this movie was made in the 1960s but it was made more recently.
It was made in 1985. It was filmed in such a way that it was supposed to appear
futuristic or at least as futuristic as it would seem if the movie had been made in
the 1960s. This is one wacky, zany, and weird movie. It's about a man who keeps
dreaming about this woman and one day, he actually sees her in real life. He gets
entangled in a bizarre plot while trying to find her identity and where she lives.
Robert DeNiro plays the outlaw furnace repairman, a Mr. Tuttle. This movie makes you
think about the way that government operates with all the forms and procedures.
I thought the Mr. Tuttle character was a cool character who has to fix furnaces
vigilante-style. I just can't explain this movie
because it is just so different. This is a very original film that's for sure. If
you're looking for something different, pick this one up. 7/10.

Animatrix
This is a collection of short animes based loosely and revolves around the Matrix
trinity. It's supposed to explain the world of the Matrix more clearly in these
shorts which are collaborated by different artists and directors. There are 9 shorts in all.
I especially liked the first one. I was just ooh-ing and ahh-ing while watching
that one. Great special effects. I love the Matrix. Although, not really the
Matrix, it's still very good if you want to watch something related to the Matrix.
Lots of extras in the dvd. 8/10

The Virgin Suicides
This movie is about the wonderment and curiosity of a group of teenage boys on
a household with three sisters who's littlest sister committed suicide. They find
the littlest sister's diary and gain insight on her sister's lives. Although they
don't really get to know each other, it is through her diary that they imagine
that they do. It's a very different type of movie. It got me curious as to what
would be happening next. It's a dark comedy. Kirsten Dunst plays her part well
as the easy going sister who falls for Josh Hartnett who plays the heart throb.
I liked the music used in the movie as well. It is circa 1975 so it brings back
childhood memories...now I'm dating myself here. I better stop here. 8/10.

The Matrix Revolutions (IMAX)
I watched the last installment for the Matrix trilogy in IMAX format. I highly enjoyed
the first two and I heard that this was the worst of the three. Still, I went with
an unbiased opinion. After all, I enjoyed the second one as much as the first one.
This one dealt too much on the real world. I liked the simulated world a lot better.
That's where all the cool fight scenes happens, you know what I mean? I was confused as
to what had just happened, when the movie ended but after talking it over...it
did make sense. I'm going to have to buy the dvds and watch Matrix Reloaded and
Revolutions back to back. I didn't like the ending and one emotional scene didn't
move me at all and I'm usually easily moved. Still, it's a great movie for the
revolutionary special effects and over the top final fight. 9/10

The Princess and the Warrior
This movie was directed by the same director that did "Run Lola Run" and I also
heard that it was a good movie. It even stars the actress that played Lola in that
film. Because of that, I had no hesitations in renting out this one. I watched it
in German language and with English subtitles. Well, the first thing that I've got
to say about this movie is that there was two extremely gross scenes. I had thought
that "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" was the most gross movie that I've seen. It still
is but these two scenes had me wanting to puke. Pardon the language. Whereas, in
movies, sometimes a scene lasts for a couple of seconds, the scenes that I'm
referring to in this movie lasted for about 30 seconds. I wanted to turn away but
then I'd be missing the movie but this just made me want to hurl. Aside from that,
the movie was different from other movies. Which was a good thing. I would recommend
it just because of that originality. I still liked "Run Lola Run" a tad better
because it moved kind of slowly but then Lola was running a lot in the other movie
so I shouldn't even compare the two movies. 7/10.

Akira
This movie was touted as the father of anime from sites that I read. It is the
anime that made anime the way it is today. I've never had the chance to watch
this one until now. It was made in 1998 in Japan. I watched it dubbed in English
without subtitles. Maybe that was the reason why I didn't like it that much. I
don't know. I could see the influences that this movie had on anime such as Dragon
Ball Z as well as the violence found in other animes that I've watched. I didn't
really like the characters since they were all motorcycle thugs but I did appreciate
the super motorcycle in the movie. I was very tired while watching the movie so
that could have influenced the score that I am giving it. Watch it and rate it
yourself. 6/10.,,

Madeleine
This movie was kind of slow moving. I thought that it was too long. The premise
of this movie is that a girl kind of forces a guy into dating her. There is a catch
though. They must date each other for a month and they can't break up within the
month. At the end of the month, they must happily part ways. But the girl is sure
that the boy will be madly in love with her by that time that he would declare his
love for her and not want to leave her. Despite the slow moving storyline, the guy
meets up with his highschool admirer. She is an awesome singer. If somebody knows
how her name since I can't read Korean, could you kindly drop me a message so that
I can download her music? I'm not sure if she is actually a musician or not either.
Oh well. 7/10 because of the singer and the movie does have some neat special effects
such as the text messenging and video game footages. What?

Love For All Seasons
I was expecting a good movie before watching this one since it stars Sammy
Cheng. I've enjoyed all her previous movies with her in it. Love on a Diet is my
personal favourite with her in it. I also really enjoyed My Left Eye Sees Ghosts.
I also liked Needing You. Well, I guess I can safely say that this was the first
dud that she's made. The story was unbelievable, unbelievably silly, and the
martial arts that she possessed was laughable. The premise of the story is that
she needs a guy to break her heart in order for her to master a martial arts
technique in order to save her village so that's where Louis Koo comes in. I
didn't feel anything for the characters. Both weren't very likeable. Hence, the
sad moment that was supposed to be there, wasn't sad at all. I'd avoid this one.
6/10.
28-Dec-2003 12:34 AM
The Lion Roars
I like Cecilia Cheung. I don't really like Louis Koo. I liked the character that
he portrayed in this movie though. Both of these characters are kind of forced
into marriage and when married, Louis Koo finds out that his wife is very mean
and she would him up if he didn't listen to her. She doesn't want him to be with
other woman. This takes place in a period where it was not unusual for a man to
have many concubines. Louis is a guy who likes to have fun with other woman. One
night, he is tricked into bed with a princess. Will
the marriage last? You will have to find out yourself. Very witty movie. 9/10.

Hero
I finally watched Hero after hearing about this movie for over a year already.
It was nominated for a lot of awards and it rightfully deserved them all. Spectacular.
Great cinematography. Vivid imagery and colours. The story deserves more than
one viewing to probably understand it all. Great martial artistry. It is the story
of Jet Li who is invited to see the Emperor because he killed the emperor's assassins...
There are many different versions of what actually happened. I was impressed with
Donnie Yen fighting with Jet Li. This showdown is worth watching this movie for.
Also included in the cast is Tony Leung, Zhang Yiyi, and Maggie Cheung. 9/10

Every Dog Has His Date
This is a very funny movie about a dog that becomes a man and his adventures in
trying to match his master with a veterinarian. Besides being very funny, this
movie also has touching moments. Does it have a happy ending? Well, you will
have to watch this movie to find out. I recommend that you do. 9/10
05-Jan-2004 04:58 PM
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
If you watched the first Charlie's Angels, you will notice that this one has more
special effects, more comedic moments, more budget, more cameos, and more action
than the first one. Well, does that mean that it's better than the first one?
Not really. The plot was more convoluted and confusing than the first one. But
I guess it wasn't supposed to make too much sense anyways because if you think
too much in this movie, there would be more holes in this movie than a termite-infested
tree. Overall, still a very good movie. 9/10
05-Jan-2004 05:07 PM
Barking Dogs Never Bite
I thought that this movie was very funny. It's a black comedy since it deals with
a guy out of luck finding a job who gets so annoyed with a barking dog in his
complex that he decides to get rid of it. Little does he know that there is also
somebody else in that same complex that is also doing the same thing. All I have
to say is that this movie is very original. I kept wondering what would be happening
next. 9/10.
18-Jan-2004 09:49 AM
The Mummy, Aged 19
This movie started out pretty good. It's about a boy who inherits the spirit of
a mummy by accident one stormy night. Quirky characters. Directed by the same director
as My Left Eye Sees Ghosts. Anyways, after the mid-point of the movie, it just got
too silly and unbelievable. Especially the finale. It was too corny. The acting was
pretty bad too. This movie had great potential but it seems like the director didn't
know what to do with the second half of the movie. It had funny moments though.
6/10.

Married to the Mob
Touted as the sequel to My Wife is a Gangster, it wasn't even a continuation of
that movie. Oh well. It was a big hit in Korea the year it was released and it was
one of the top grossing movies in that country. Funny movie. Sad movie. Touching
movie. The only problem was that the story wasn't too believable. Okay. A guy wakes
up and finds a girl in bed with him. He doesn't remember what happened or how this
happened. All he knows is that she is the sister of a mafia family and her family
wants him to marry her. There's a catch. He has a girlfriend already. It's another
comedic gangster movie and it is better than My Wife is a
Gangster. If you liked the previous movie, you'll like this one better. It even
has a song from Norah Jones. It's such a nice song. As soon as I heard it, I knew
that I would end up liking this movie and I did. If only the story was more
believable, then it would be even better. 8/10
18-Jan-2004 10:08 AM
Buddy Friends
This movie has a cast of actors and actress that I've never seen before onscreen.
It's not really a movie though. It looks more like your soap opera episodes on
tv. It has it funny moments but the plot and storyline wasn't very strong. It was
like watching a tv comedy that lasted for 1 1/2 hrs. Not bad. 5/10.

Fighting For Love
This movie was released in 2001. I hadn't had the chance to watch this one until
now although it was in the collection for a while. I like Tony Leung. He's much
younger if you compare him to his newer releases, for some odd reason, although
it's only been 3 years. I also like Sammi Cheng. I've liked every movie that she
has starred in, that I've watched, except for Love For All Seasons. The problem
with this movie was that I didn't like the characters that both of these characters
portrayed. They both have dislikeable traits. But we are supposed to feel for them.
I didn't like how they made Tony Leung's fiance into a totally different character
just so the movie-watchers would route for Sammi instead. Nonetheless, this movie
still elicited some emotions from me, and overall, I would recommend this one to
romantic comedy fans out there. 8/10
18-Jan-2004 10:17 AM
The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
The finale of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I still liked the first movie the
best out of all of them. This one comes in second in my rankings. It was a pretty
good movie. I liked the fight scenes and the strategies employed by attacking and
defending the castle. The special effects were awesome. It was touching. It had
excitement. I especially liked the fight scene with Orlando Bloom with the elephant-
like creatures. Too bad there's no martial arts, hehe.I heard a lot of sniffling
in the audience but I just didn't feel it as much as the people around me. If you've
been reading my other reviews, you'll know that if it has a good cry, then I'd
rate the movie higher. 9/10
18-Jan-2004 10:25 AM
Endless Love
The dvd that I watched was 2 1/2 hrs in length. This movie consisted of the editor
cutting chunks of the Korean soap opera and condensing everything into that length
of time. Major editing was involved. Only major storylines concerning the brother
and sister and their significant others were in this movie. They should at least
put everything on 2 dvds and release that. Oh well. I watched it with cantonese
dubbing and I'm not that fluent in cantonese but I was surprised that I understood
it. I've got to say that I was kind of disturbed that the guy was in love with his
sister, although, they aren't really brothers and sisters but they did grow up
together as family. Putting all that aside, it is a very sad movie. Even though it
was edited majorly, I thought that it felt slow although the storyline moved too
fast. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying. I guess you should watch
this one and find out. 8/10

The Classic
I wasn't expecting much from this movie since I read a bad review about it.
Since it is directed by the same guy that did My Sassy Girl, I was
willing to give it a try regardless. That's my advice for anyone reading
my reviews. It's just a guideline. It's best that you watch all the movies
that you are interested in because maybe you'd like it even if I didn't. It
started off with a favourite symphonic piece of mine. Cannonball by Pachebel.
When I heard that, my expectations for the movie was higher. I love that piece.
It began as a comedy. I was laughing. In the middle, it became more serious.
I wasn't laughing anymore. I felt more concerned. By the end, I was crying. I
won't tell you if it was because of sadness or happiness. You probably think i'm
a crybaby now. Have you watched that Johnny Depp movie? I haven't. I heard it had
bad reviews. Some other day, I guess. Back to the review. The cinematography was
beautiful. Nice camera work and scenery. It's about a girl reading her parents
love letters and while reading it, we are transported to the time that her parents
lived in the 1960s and we also go back to the current time. It's the best movie
that I've seen in a while. 10/10.

Big Fish
I thought this movie would be great because it's directed by Tim Burton. I liked
Edward Scissorhands. I also liked Sleepy Hollow. I thought this movie was good.
It isn't as good as his other movies but still good. It's about a father who tells
tall tales, hence, the title. I liked the cinematography. I just didn't like the
fact that the entire movie is about his tall tales. Nothing else. If there was more
to the movie, I would have given it a higher rating. 7/10

Tiramisu
I was pleasantly surprised when I watched this movie. I wasn't expecting much
from it because I never heard anything about this one. I didn't even watch it until
over a year after I had the VCD. I'm glad that I finally decided to watch it.
It deals with the supernatural and the rules that govern this supernatural world.
You'll just have to accept the rules and you'll accept the movie. When a person
dies, they must either go to heaven or hell and if they do not, they are ghosts
but people from the other world try to take them out of this world. I did tell you
that it is different from most movies, didn't I? No? Okay. I just did. This movie
is funny, sad, emotional, suspenseful, and there is a feeling of what will happen
next? I know what rating I'm giving this one. 10/10.

Triplets
This is a cartoon. It's not like other cartoons because there are no dialogue
between the characters. This film was made in France so you hear people in the
background talking in french. The radio announcer speaks french. The music is in
french. But you don't have to understand french to truly understand this movie.
You just have to understand that this is cartoon is different from other cartoons.
It stars an old lady, her nephew, and her nephew's dog. The nephew competes in
The Tour de France. The old lady and his dog helps him. Along the way, the old
lady meets the Triplets. It was quite annoying how the overweight dog would always
bark at passing trains and seemed to always be hungry. The characters aren't the
most pretty to watch either. I liked the catchy tune that opens up this cartoon
movie though. I was still humming it after a week that I watched it. It's too bad
that I found the characters to be too quirky to my liking. 7/10

Oasis
I heard this movie was critically acclaimed. That's all that I knew about this
movie when I was watching it. I sure wished that I heard more about the story
before watching though because I felt kind of sick while watching the movie. I
just was too grossed out by what I was seeing on the screen. First of all, the
actor and actress aren't the prettiest that I've seen and it deals with a guy
that falls in love with a mentally disabled person. If you like pretty actors and
actresses, then stay away from this movie. Stay far away. I almost felt like
turning off the DVD player. But I didn't. I stayed with it. The story was
interesting enough to keep me watching it. I got to see how prejudiced that
some people might be of the mentally disabled and how they might be taken advantaged
of. 6/10

My Tutor Friend
This movie was sometimes compared to My Sassy Girl so I was expecting a lot from
this one. It was funny. But it wasn't sad at all. A girl is forced to tutor a guy
that is forced to be tutored. He torments her but she has to remain his tutor
because of that. This movie has its comedic moments. It even has action as there
are gangs and mafia members that tries to beat up the guy. The girl also gets
beaten up by a girl gang whose leader is in love with the guy. It's too bad that
there wasn't more to this movie. Give us a sad moment please. It's still a better
than average movie. 7/10

Mighty Baby
Who wouldn't want to watch a movie that has lots of cute little babies in it?
Well, this movie has lots of cute little babies in it. It's the sequel to La
Brassiere, which I haven't watched. This one had its funny moments. It was kind
of silly though. Too silly for my liking. Cecilia Cheung, Rosamund Kwan, Gigi Leung
and Louis Koo stars in this one but it is still only an average movie. 6/10

Eat Drink Man Woman
This movie is directed by Ang Lee. It's about the love life or lack thereof of a
family raised by a father and his three daughters. The father is a veteran master
chef in a restaurant in Taiwan. He cooks dinner for his daughters every Sunday
night. They tell of important announcements at this time since it is the only time
that they seem to communicate with each other. The opening scene of the father
preparing and cooking food made me feel hungry. I never knew that there was so much
work to do when cooking. There are a couple of surprises in the storyline but the
storyline isn't that great. 6/10

Running on Karma
This one stars Andy Lau and Cecelia Cheung. They are two of my favourite actors.
It's directed by Johnnie To. The premise of the movie is that a stripper has the
ability to see Karma and he tries to save the life of a lady cop. It has a couple
of really great fight scenes with Andy Lau and an East Indian killer. There is
also a great scene with a thief involving Andy Lau. I forgot to tell you that Andy
Lau is fitted with a muscle suit so that he looks like a chinese Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Seriosly. He does. The suit is apparently made by the guy that made the fat suit for
Andy Lau's other movie, Love on a Diet. Pretty cool. The movie is pretty cool as well.
It has comedy yet it has a Seven type of dark brooding atmosphere to this film. Complete
with the severed heads. If only the ending was better. 8/10.

American Psycho
Stylishly filmed movie of a serial killer. Took me back to 1987 with the music.
I didn't know that Huey Lewis and the News, Whitney Houston, and other music from
that period could be explained. It took me to another world where people live
superficially and materialistically. Their status can be given away from their
designer suits and their business cards. Not your usual hack and slash gore fest
but this movie actually makes you think. 8/10

Litter on the Breeze (First Love)
A movie by acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai. I liked In the Mood For Love. I also
liked Fallen Angels. I also liked this one. This movie has essenses of Quentin
Tarantino's hip style of film-making and for all we know, maybe he copied Wong
Kar Wai's work since Tarantino is a big fan of Hong Kong movies. You can't help
but notice the film's coolness factor. It's about a director that tells us the
ideas that goes down before he finally alters it to make a movie. A few plot changes
later, his film is made and is shown to us. There is actually 2 films but there
is really more than that because of all the changes that he makes in his first
film. It also contains a wacky track. Original ideas. Ingenious. No wonder some
people worship him as a director. 9/10
28-Feb-2004 05:02 PM
Chung King Express
An earlier film by acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai. Some people consider this a
masterpiece. I watched a few of his other movies before finally watching this one
but it didn't live up to the hype. Sure, it was stylishly shot and had an MTV feel
to it. I also notice the coolness factor but I liked his other works better.
There are actually 2 stories in this movie. One deals with a cop, Takeshi Kaneshiro,
and his trying to get over the fact that he has broken up with his girlfriend.
The other movie is about an obsessed girl over a cop, Tony Leung. Wong Kar Wai's
movies are surely different from most movies out there but it just didn't have
as much zing to it than his other ones. 6/10.

Young and Dangerous 3
I didn't really like the first 2 installments of the series. I was thinking of
getting more of the same abuse while watching this one but I was pleasantly
surprised that I liked this one. I guess there must be some appeal to the series
since there are more to it. I might watch them too now. The movie constantly gives
us more insight as to how triads operate. They have an order of conduct that they
all abide by, as shown in the earlier series as well. Better action and also more
comedy in this one. 7/10

The Phone
I thought that this movie would be about a stalker who is trying to spook a writer
of controversial novels since that is how the film was shown to portray at the
beginning of the movie. But it becomes supernatural with a girl being possessed
by a spirit because she listened to a call from a cellular phone. The story slowly
unravels and all the mysteries are revealed by the end. It appears that the
cellular phone has some sort of history with its owners. Anyways, without going
any further, this film has its scary and creepy moments. It's more of a psychological
horror type of movie. I like this type of horror better than the hack and slash the
teenager flicks that Hollywood is constantly churning out. The plot and the ending
could have been better as well as the premise of the entire movie. You will know
what I'm hinting about here once you watch the movie. 8/10

Sound of Colors
Keep in mind that I watched this movie from a dvd that didn't have english subtitles
and some parts of the movies had actors that only spoke in mandarin. I am not fluent
in cantonese but I do not know any mandarin at all. This movie is about a guy that
falls in love with a blind woman. The guy is played by Tony Leung. The girl is played
by Mirium Yeung. I will have to say that the cinematography and the way that the film looked
was beautiful. The colors are magnificent. The dream sequences are spectacular.
There are some funny parts to the movie but the storyline is very questionable.
It might well be my fault since I don't understand mandarin so take this for what
it's worth. 6/10

X-Men United
I thought that this movie, the sequel to X-Men, was better. There was more of a
storyline to it. The plot was better. The special effects were better. The action
was better. If you liked the first one, you should definitely watch this one.
Whereas the first movie had to introduce the audience to the cast of characters,
this movie did not have to do so and therefore, feels more like a complete movie.
You should definitely check this one out. You won't be disappointed. 9/10

Hidalgo
From watching the trailers, I was half expecting a movie like The Mummy. From
reading the reviews of the critics, I was expecting a horse racing movie. From
the resume of the main character, who was The King in Lord of the Rings, I was
expecting action. I guess you can say that this movie is a combination of all of
the above. This movie is about an American horse rider who takes his horse to race
in the Arabian desert and along the way, meets opponents that do not want an American
to win their race. I found it odd that the main character has a Southern american
accent and if you watched Lord of the Rings, then you will know why I felt this
way. Anyways, this movie had its share of action, romance, intrigue, and excitement
so I'm giving this one 8/10.

The Way Home
This movie stars an old lady that the producer found literally in a small rural
village in Korea. It also stars a little boy. The little boy is forced into living
with his grandma. This is the basis of the entire movie. The end. Wait a second.
It would be a boring movie but this little boy gives his grandma, who is also, deaf
and mute, a hard time because he doesn't want to be there. That's better. Isn't it?
In this age, where movies are based on how good the special effects are, how big
the explosions are, etc. This movie has none of that. The cinematography is
beautifully shot. The story is touching. You grow to like the characters. This
movie is brilliant. 9/10.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Just from watching the trailers, I thought that this movie would be special.
It didn't look like a typical hollywood movie. It seemed foreign for some reason.
I realized afterwards, it was because it was directed by a french director. It
stars Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet, and Elijah Wood. The movie is about a guy that
tries to prevent his memory from being erased by a special technique that has
been invented for taking out parts of memories that people do not want anymore.
Because of this, it seemed like I was watching a bad dream gone mad. This movie
is different. It can be thought of very unique and original. It has memorable
scenes, pardon the pun. Great special effects. I love the quotes and dialogue
that was used in the movie. I'd check it out. 8/10.

My Teacher, Mr. Kim
This movie is about a teacher who is forced to go out in a rural village and teach
school there until it closes down. He isn't used to the country life there and
so he tries to get out of it as fast as he can. Ultimately, he begins to form
a connection with the students there. You can probably guess what happens next.
The movie is kind of predictable right from the beginning but it is worth watching.
It is funny. It is touching. 8/10

Anatomy
This movie stars the same actress that was in Run Lola Run. It's a german
movie. I watched it with original language and english subtitles. This movie
is very graphic and contains disturbing scenes. I liked it. It's about medical
students who get to go to a prestigious university to study with a reknown
professor and along the way, a secret cult is revealed who is murdering people
for research. This movie had its share of grossness, humour, suspense, and drama.
It is quite different from most movies. If only some parts of the story were more
believable, then it would have earned a better grade. It is still recommended.

Zoolander
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson stars in this comedy about a model who is hypnotized
to kill a Malaysian president. It's one of the funniest movies that I've seen in a
long time. The plot is original. The scenes were very original as well. There is
a pose down in the movie. It has cameos from a lot of famous actors and actresses.
Billy Zane, Gary Shandling, Beyonce, etc. The last half of the movie kind of slowed down
but other than that, it is a great movie and worth watching. 8/10
04-Apr-2004 02:33 PM
Ocean's 11
This movie is a remake of a film by the same name. It stars George Clooney, Brad
Pitt, Julia Roberts, Andy Garcia, and Matt Damon. Impressive cast. Mediocre plot.
A guy forms a group of 11 that tries to rob one of the most secured casinos in the world.
Of course, something will go wrong while attempting the robbery. Right? Will they
still be able to complete the job or not? I guess you will have to watch this one
to find out. 7/10

Hidden Track
I wasn't a Jay Chou fan until I watched this movie. This movie reminded me of a
chinese Amelie. Quirky. Original. Funny. Weird. Surprising. Nice music. Special
appearance by Jay Chou, as himself. It's about a girl who tries to look for a
limited CD that was released with a hidden track done by Jay Chou. Along the way,
the girl encounters different people that have come in contact with this CD and
we are immersed into their strange world. One of the most original movies that
I've seen in a while. The ending was kind of lackluster though. 8/10.
25-Apr-2004 08:28 PM
Blue Crush
I've always been a fan of surfer movies. Point Break was awesome. In the Hands of
God was also awesome. That's why I decided to rent this one. It's about a girl
who tries to enter a surfing contest for women only and to become famous from it.
This movie was just alright. The music was just alright. The surfing
scenes were just alright. It did have some funny moments. It was more like watching
a sort of documentary or home movie about this girl and her 2 friends. This movie was alright.
If I weren't a surfer movie fan, I would have given this movie a lower score. 7/10.
25-Apr-2004 08:33 PM
Kill Bill Volume 2
I have been waiting for this sequel to be released ever since I finished
watching Kill Bill Volume 1. I couldn't wait to see Uma Thurman kill Bill.
I was thinking that Quentin Tarantino would save the best for Volume 2. I was
sadly mistaken. Don't get me wrong, this movie is still pretty good, but it
didn't have as much martial arts fighting and it had less fighting. Volume 1, in
this aspect, was much better. The ending was kind of disappointing as well. Maybe
I was just expecting too much so I was not that impressed. 8/10
25-Apr-2004 08:39 PM
The Experiment
This is a German movie. It stars the guy that was in Run Lola Run. I watched it
with english subtitles. People sign up for an experiment where some of them would
be prisoners and others would be the prison guards for a period of 2 weeks. This
movie was based upon a real life experiment in the U.S. Anyways, no violence is
allowed in this experiment but the movie contained more violence or as much violence as a Quentin
Tarantino movie. See my review for Kill Bill Volume 2. Original concept but it just
became too predictable. The ending
was not much of an ending either. 7/10
25-Apr-2004 08:43 PM
Love Bakery
This one was kind of a strange movie. A guy's wife suddenly starts
to sigh. She stops sighing when she meets a stranger that comes
to buy from their bakery. The husband falls for the wife of this
stranger who is coming to the bakery. Where are the morals in this
movie? You'll have to watch this one to find out. 7/10.
08-May-2004 07:22 PM
Van Helsing
Directed by the same guy that did The Mummy, and starring Hugh Jackman and
Kate Beckingsdale, this movie had high expectations from me. It did provide some
spark with the special effects. There are a couple of exciting scenes. There is
also plenty of action. If you're a fan of vampires, werewolves, and
thrills, then you're going to be getting a treat from this movie. Don't expect
the plot to be too sophisticated or the acting to be top notch. Just expect to
leave your brains at the door and expect some fun. 8/10

Ashes of Time
Directed by acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai, I was expecting a lot before watching
this movie. I've also read some great reviews by others about how great this movie
was. I heard that it was more of an artistic movie than a martial arts one. I also
heard that it had great acting and a superb plot where you'd appreciate it more
if you watched the movie more than once. Okay. After I watched this period piece
martial arts/drama movie, I didn't think much of it. The plot was kind of all
jumbled up and thrown together where you had to piece everything together to
understand the storyline. It's true, I'd have to watch it another time to fully
understand what happens in the movie. There is hardly any action in this movie
even though it is set in that time period. This is one of his earlier works and it
looks very dated. If you don't mind any of the above, then I'd suggest that you
watch this one to find out what everyone was talking about when he first released
this movie. I'm not even sure if I'd watch this a second time. It might get better
though but is it worth my time? 5/10.
07-Jun-2004 08:27 AM
The Silver Knife
This movie is sort of a raunchy teen comedy flick done Korean style. There were
bits that were pretty funny, I'd have to admit, but the storyline wasn't that
great. It's about a group of guy friends who are looking for girlfriends and a
group of girls looking for boyfriends and each couple that comes together each
has their own sets of problems in their relationship. The title is Silver Knife
because the star of the movie holds a ceremonial knife that she uses to defend
herself from boys that gets a little out of hand. If you are craving for a movie
where you don't have to think at all and you need a good laugh, then I'd suggest
that you watch this one. 6/10
07-Jun-2004 08:33 AM
Gothika
I watched this in the dark with the volumes full blast. I also had my headsets
on so that I wouldn't disturb anyone else. Halle Berry, Robert Downey Jr., and
Penelope Cruz are the main stars of this movie. You'd think that any movie starring
Robert Downey Jr. would be awful but I was pleasantly surprised. This is an action/
horror movie and it works. I got what these types of movies are supposed to give
us. I jumped a couple of times while watching this movie. It was very surprising
as well. I would never had guessed the ending. 8/10
07-Jun-2004 08:45 AM
Better Luck Tomorrow
I heard a lot of great reviews about this movie. I've been wanting to watch this
one for a while now but just never got around to it until my cousin lent me his
DVD. It was pretty good. It was funny. Original. Kind of weird. It also depicted
how a group of asian american friends lived which is very refreshing because we
don't see movies like this at all. The ending was too unbelievable as well as some
parts of the movie so I have to give this one a 8/10.
07-Jun-2004 08:48 AM
Love Actually
This movie was made by the same guys that brought us all the other british
romantic comedy movies, or it seems like it was, at least. If you have ever
watched any of the british romantic comedy movies and you enjoyed them, then
you can't go wrong if you want to watch this one. I liked it. I liked it a lot.
Funny. Romantic. Sad. The only problem that I had with this movie was that there
were a lot of mini storylines that were happening in the movie and I didn't like
a couple of them. But, overall, I enjoyed this one. I'm a sucker for romantic
comedies. 9/10
07-Jun-2004 08:52 AM
Bend It Like Beckham
The title of this movie is from the star wanting to bend it like David Beckham.
It is original because it deals with an East Indian girl who wants to make it big
in soccer without the support of her parents. We get a glimpse into what the life
of an East Indian is like as well as seeing her overcome or give in to her obstacles.
It has a romance storyline, there is a touching moment in this film, and it stars
Kieran Knightly. You can't go wrong with that combination, can you? 9/10.
07-Jun-2004 09:01 AM
Shrek 2
If you liked the original Shrek, I'm sure that you would want to watch this one.
If you thought that this movie would be even better than the original movie, then
you might get that from this one as well. I heard from others that this movie was
better than the original. I belong in the other camp. It was a good movie. It had
everything that the original movie had but I still think the first one was better.
Just by a tad though. It also should have been a tad longer. 9/10
07-Jun-2004 09:05 AM
Ditto
If you've ever watched Il Mare, then you will see that this movie is quite similar
to that movie. It's too bad that Il Mare is one of my favourite romantic comedies
of all time. Instead of letters, this movie involves a ham radio. You'll understand
what I'm saying if you've ever watched Il Mare. I don't want to give away too much
of the plot. It was kind of slow moving throughout the entire movie until the
ending where it was very touching. 7/10

Turn Left Turn Right
If you believe in destiny and you're looking for a romantic comedy to watch, then
this is the right movie for you. This movie stars Takeshi Kaneshiro and Gigi Leung.
A guy falls in love with a girl and doesn't meet again until 13 years later. One
day, destiny causes them to meet again but again, they lose touch with one another.
Little do either of them know that they are living in the apartment just next door
from one other. Unbelievable plotline? Maybe. Good movie? Definitely. Especially
if you're not in the mood to think too much and you want to enjoy a romantic comedy
which involves destiny. 8/10

Once Upon A Time In Highschool: Spirit of Jeet Kune Do
Were you ever a fan of Bruce Lee as a kid. Are you still a fan of Bruce Lee?
If so, you'll probably be able to relate to the characters in this movie and
understand why he was revered and still is. I remember pretending to be Bruce
Lee as a kid after watching his movies. This film sort of pays homage to him as
it looks at kids in a highschool in Korea. Of course, there is a romance involved
in this movie. Nothing that we haven't seen before in other romance movies. There
is also action. The movie kind of moves slowly but near the end of the movie,
there is a great action sequence which makes me give this one 8/10.

Addicted
When I started watching this movie, I was thinking that it would be one of those
romantic comedies that Korea is famous for but then it just got freaky. In more details,
a guy seeing a woman gets into a car accident and finds himself in a coma. Simultaneously, his
is also in an accident. The guy's brother finds that he has his brother's personality
and so he behaves as if his brother's wife is his wife. Wouldn't it be freaky if
that happened to you? Apart from that, this movie felt very slow. This movie started
out promising but the ending wasn't very good either. Watch this one only if you're
bored. 6/10
19-Jun-2004 12:11 AM
Bungee Jumping On Their Own
This movie sort of reminded me of Addicted because it had sort of the same
premise. In this movie, a teacher finds that one of his students has the
personality of his true love. He starts to fall for him because of this. The
student is confused until everything is explained. I didn't like the main actor
or the actress in this movie. The plot was not believable and it was also
too slow for my liking. 5/10
19-Jun-2004 12:18 AM
Inner Senses
This is the last movie that Leslie Cheung filmed before his death. It also
stars Karena Lam. I haven't seen a horror movie for a while that delivered what
it promises to its fans. I jumped a few times while watching this one in the
middle of a nice sunny day and I wasn't alone either. This movie is about a
psychiatrist who tries to cure a patient who sees ghosts. It felt like it had two
parts because this psychiatrist also saw ghosts as well. If you like to be scared
and if you like watching well-made movies, this one is for you. 9/10
19-Jun-2004 12:24 AM
First Kiss
The movie stars the leading actress from Winter Sonata. It felt like a soap opera
because the pace of this movie moved very slowly. The premise deals with a girl
who has never been kissed. She falls in love with a guy who has another girlfriend
already. What happens in the end? Does she finally get her first kiss? Well. If
you're not asleep by then, maybe you'll be able to find out. 5/10
19-Jun-2004 12:27 AM
Guns And Talks
Great special effects. Nice soundtrack. Funny. Intriging. Different. This movie
is about four guys who are hired assassins. They aren't your typical assassins
though. You get to like these characters even though they do hits for a living.
One of these assassins goes to confession every week and he is telling the priest
that it was a slow week since he only killed 5 people that week. The movie starts
out with a guy going into a car to learn of his next hit. A girl wants her teacher
to be killed but they don't want to do it. Also, a guy finds that
he can't kill a lady that he has been hired to kill. This movie glorifies the hitmen.
Is this right? But we end up liking the characters, so it might be okay?
Because of that reason and the ending, I give this one 7/10
19-Jun-2004 12:38 AM
Mr. Handy
A girl decides to open up a dentist office in a small town in Korea.
There, she finds that whenever she's in a jam, the local handyman would
always come to her rescue. It has comedic moments interspersed within this
slow moving romantic comedy. There is a spoof about Ringu that I found hilarious.
Just because of that scene, I'm giving this one a 7/10.
19-Jun-2004 09:20 AM
Please Teach Me English
This movie stars the guy from Volcano High. I should learn the names of the Korean
actors but they are just too hard to remember. With special effects and cute dialogue
because the actors try to speak english, it was enjoyable. The storyline, however,
wasn't that much to write home about. A girl meets a guy in an english class and
falls in love with him, however, he is too busy trying to pick up their teacher
instead of noticing the normal and plain looking girl. The girl also thinks that
the guy has a girlfriend in America. I didn't find the chemistry to be believable
and the ending wasn't that great. However, I still found myself liking the characters
although they were pretty annoying. 7/10
19-Jun-2004 09:28 AM
Too Beautiful To Lie
A girl who has the unique ability to be able to lie and fool people easily, does
just that and gets out of parole. She finds herself in a predicament where she
becomes the mayor's son's fiance all from one minor lie. This romantic comedy
does what these types of movies are supposed to do successfully and that's why
I'm giving it a 9/10.
21-Jun-2004 09:01 AM
An Affair
Bae Yong-Jun stars in this drama where his love for a woman gets complicated
because he has a fiance and the woman that he truly loves is married. We see how
this affair starts and how it all ends. This was kind of a slow moving movie but
it was very well acted. 7/10.
21-Jun-2004 09:06 AM
Over The Rainbow
Bae Yong-Jun stars in this drama who is the male lead in Il Mare, for those that
can't memorize names, like me. This movie is about Bae Yong-Jun who gets into a
car accident and has partial amnesia. He can't remember anything after coming out
of the hospital and so begins his quest for information as to who his girlfriend
is. I found the movie predictable but I still enjoyed it. 8/10
21-Jun-2004 09:11 AM
Wanee and Juna
This movie had a good animated introduction and an even better animation sequence
at the end of the movie. But in between is where everything is all messed up. It didn't
make much sense, the writing was bad and sloppy, and I was left with a confused
movie that was slow moving without much to say. It's too bad that the entire movie
was not animated. 5/10

Untold Scandal
The movie that was based upon the french novel Dangerous Liasons, but modified
and based upon a feudal Korea. If you like movies that have twists and turns,
betrayal, backstabbing, cheating, and lying, just to name some traits of the
main characters in the movie, then I'd watch this one in an instant. I have never
watched any version of Dangerous Liasons so this movie was fresh and new to me.
I thought that it did a good job besides some scenes that weren't necessary to
be put in the movie. You will see if you watch this one. The movie was well produced
and stars major korean actors so you won't be disappointed. The ending wasn't very
good and that is the only black mark to the movie but if they adapted the movie
from the book, it wasn't necessarily, their fault, isn't it? 8/10
01-Jul-2004 04:22 PM
Ice Rain
Nice production value. The story is interesting in that two guys who are in a life
threatening situation while mountain climbing find out that they are there due to
the fact that they were dating the same girl before. The intriguing female lead
in this movie kept it interesting for me. It made me want to know about what had
happened in the relationships with her from the two male leads. 7/10
01-Jul-2004 04:33 PM
Marriage Is A Crazy Thing
A woman meets a man on a blind date. They hit it off together but the guy doesn't
think that he is good enough for her. Not much of a plot in this movie but it
generates interest because we want to know what happens in their relationship or
lack thereof. 6/10

Mean Girls
This is a teenage comedy produced by Lorne Michaels. He is responsible for Saturday Night
Live so I expected lots of laughs from this movie. I got those laughs too. Some
of the jokes were kind of lame and didn't work but most of them were pretty funny.
Aside from the plot, which was unbelievable at times and predictable as well,
this was a fun movie if you're looking for something light and entertaining to watch
. 8/10
25-Jul-2004 12:07 PM
100 Days With Mr. Arrogant
Nice cinematagraphy, a few laughs, and nice looking actors star in this romantic
comedy about a teenager who happens to kick a can which hits a guy's head which
causes him to crash into a wall. Because of this, the teenager is forced to pay
for the damage to the guy's car. She has no money so she is forced to be his slave
for 100 days. Not very believable with the chemistry in the movie but overall, it
was a nice production, and you can't forget about the pretty actors. 8/10

Spiderman 2
I watched the first Spiderman when it was released in the theaters. There was
an amazing amount of publicity and hype for that one. After watching it, I came
out of the theater thinking that it was a pretty good movie but thought that there
was something missing about it. The computer generated images didn't look too
realistic and there was no emotional scenes. Usually, sequels are worse than the
original movies so I wasn't expecting too much from this one. Was I wrong! Boy!
Was I wrong! What the original was lacking, this one had. The fighting sequences
were just too amazing for my eyes to behold. There were more characters introduced
in this one and more emotions as well. If there is one movie that you want to watch
in the summer of 2004, this one is the one. 10/10
25-Jul-2004 04:35 PM
Memento Mori
I thought that this was supposed to be a good movie according to reviews that I
have read. It's supposed to be a horror movie but there was no horror, in
my opinion. Sure, there was some supernatural happenings in this all girl school
where the movie takes place. We, the viewers, are forced to unravel the mystery of
why a student commits suicide and because of flashbacks, this movie seems to be
more complicated than what it actually is. Not much of a movie. 6/10
25-Jul-2004 04:39 PM
Summer Breeze Of Love
This movie stars the Twins, Charlene Choi and Gillian Chung. It is a sweet romantic
comedy about teenagers that fall in love but is not loved in return. How will the
movie end? Will the Twins be lonely? Will their obstacles in romance be overcome?
Witty movie which left me laughing at a few scenes. There is also a touching
scene. The Twins are very audience friendly as well. The only concern with this
movie is that it isn't very deep. 8/10

White Valentine
This is the first movie that the star of My Sassy Girl was involved in. This would be
the only reason why anyone would want to check this movie out. If you like to watch
grass grow, then you'd love this movie. Everything seemed to move painfully slow.
The cinematography was nonexistent as well. Shots of scenes seemed like they were
too far away. No changing of angles while the actors recited their lines. Basically,
this movie is about the romance or lack thereof between two people who are longing
for different people. Watch this only if you want to watch all the movies that the
girl from My Sassy Girl stars in. I can't think of any other reason. 3/10

Harmonium In My Memory
A slow moving romance movie with people who like somebody but this somebody doesn't
like them. It involves a teacher who likes a fellow teacher and a student who likes
her teacher. The movie starts off with a teacher from the city of Seoul who is
transferred to a school in the suburbs. Romance ensues but is not returned. Will
the actors and actress finally have their love reciprocated? Do you really want to
know? If you do, then watch this movie. It's better than sitting in front of the
tv set watching a blank screen. 6/10

Hi Dharma!
This movie is about a gang of korean mafia members who have to find a place to
hide out for a while and they end up staying at a monastery with some monks. Some
comedic moments ensue as well as conflicts involving the gang members and the monks.
The concept is original but the plot is just average and the ending isn't that
great. 6/10

Art Museum By The Zoo
A man comes home from the military and finds that the apartment that he shared with
his girlfriend has somebody else living there instead.
With no place else to go and since he was the only one with money who paid for the late rent,
the girl lets him stay there until the guy sorts things out. The girl meanwhile likes this guy who
doesn't notice her. The two have nothing in common except that they somehow get
involved in writing a story to enter a story writing contest. Slow moving plot
but it pays off in the end. 7/10

Sex Is Zero
If you liked American Pie then you'd probably like this movie. It deals with the
same subject. I, on the other hand, didn't enjoy that movie. I, therefore, didn't
enjoy this one as well. Even with a lead which stars the actress from 100 Days
With Mr. Arrogant, I found this movie to be just average. Nothing spectacular
in the plot or anything that was memorable in the movie. It's just an average movie
that deals with sex and teenagers. I guess it provides entertainment but you'll
soon forget about the movie an hour or so after watching it. Maybe forgetting
about this movie is a good thing. 6/10

One Fine Spring Day
Another movie that is quite forgettable after watching it. I could hardly recall
what it was about until I asked somebody else that also watched the movie. It's
about a couple who is working together to record sound bites for a radio show
who falls in love. I think that's what it's about. Who knows. I did remember that
it was slow moving and the plot was weak. It's still a movie that could be watched
if you're bored or you have some time to kill. 5/10

The Isle
This was one weird movie. I didn't know that there were fishing villages in
Korea where people would rent a shack that floated on top of the water for fishing.
This movie was bizarre from the beginning all the way until the strange end.
First of all, this movie stars a mute lady that works in this resort who is sort
of like a servant and a landlady. She falls in love with a guy that is renting one
of these fishing shacks. This guy is also a criminal on the run. Anyways, strange
things start happening. Gross things as well. If you are faint of heart, then I
wouldn't recommend that you watch this movie. There are two very squeamish parts
in this movie that is comparable to probably the most grossest things witnessed
in cinema. Because of the bizarre main characters in this movie, it kept me guessing
as to what would happen next. It's too bad that the movie had such an strange
and abrupt ending. 7/10

24 My Beautiful Days
Not to be confused with the Korean serial drama called Beautiful Days, which I
haven't watched but is supposedly very good, this movie, 24 My Beautiful Days, in
contrast, is not very good at all. Slow moving, forgettable drama about love and
relationships. This movie was so forgettable that I had to do a search on the
internet to remember what it was about. The search wasn't very helpful in jogging
back the memory either. I just remembered that it could have been better. Nothing
original in this movie that I haven't seen before in other korean movies. 5/10

Memories of Murder
This movie is based upon a real life serial murder case in Korea. A city
cop is sent to a rural village to try to solve a serial killer case. You might
be rolling your eyes now thinking that you've seen this type of movie thousands
of times and you already know that the two cops who don't like each other in the
beginning because of their different backgrounds will become best of friends by the
end of the movie. I can't tell you if your expectations will be fulfilled but I
can tell you that you'll be treated to an excellent movie. Riveting. Suspenseful.
Gross scenes. You'll laugh. You'll cry. Yes, you'll even laugh because of a few
comedic scenes. Great acting from the two stars as well. Recommended. 9/10

The Village
Another horror film from acclaimed director M. Night Shamayalan of The Sixth Sense
fame. Which, by the way, is still my favourite horror movie. I can safely say that
this is probably his next best movie to date. Set in a rural town, the townsfolks
composed of odd looking characters all live life in a bizarre way because of something
that is unmentionable. They have rules such as not being able to pass a certain
border or wearing the colour red. There are a couple of good scenes that made me jump in
this movie. If you're looking for a good horror movie and for a couple of jumps and
intense scenes, then I suggest that you watch this movie. As with his other movies,
the ending has a twist that I can't mention or it'll spoil the movie. I would have
given this movie a higher rating if the actors/actresses didn't look so odd. 9/10

Whale Rider
A girl from a Maori tribe wants to be chief but her father is set in the old ways
and does not allow her even though she is the best candidate because of her skills
and dedication that a chief must possess. This movie is about the frustration and barrier that
this girl and her father must overcome. Good acting. Sad moment. But not too riveting
of a storyline. Some parts of the movie seemed to move too slowly for my liking.

50 First Dates
Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore pairs up again in another romantic comedy. Their
first movie together was the surprise hit, The Wedding Singer. If you liked that
movie and you are hoping that this one would be as good, then you won't have to worry
because this movie is leagues above the other one. It seems like their chemistry
together is as good as ever but this movie is even funnier and there are a few
more sad moments in this movie compared to the other one as well. Drew Barrymore
plays the part of a girl who loses her memory every day and Adam Sandler happens
to fall in love with her so every day he tries to win her love again. Don't worry.
It's not another remake of Groundhog day. Laughs. Tears. A good story. Great chemistry.
Adam Sandler. What more can you ask for in a movie? Oh yes. Great soundtrack! 10/10

I, Robot
Sci-Fi action thriller starring Will Smith as a cop in the future who is sent to
investigate a murder allegedly by a robot. Will he be able to solve the case? Not as good as
the Tom Cruise movie, Minority Report, but sort of involves a similar storyline or
at least reminded me of that movie. High budget movie that was filmed in Vancouver,
Canada. But despite all the money spent on making the film, the storyline wasn't
very original and seemed to be taken out from other movies. In the end, it is only
a good movie that is worth watching. 8/10

04-Apr-2004 01:57 PM
04-Apr-2004 02:03 PM
04-Apr-2004 02:16 PM
My Teacher, Mr. Kim
This movie is about a teacher who is forced to go out in a rural village and teach
school there until it closes down. He isn't used to the country life there and
so he tries to get out of it as fast as he can. Ultimately, he begins to form
a connection with the students there. You can probably guess what happens next.
The movie is kind of predictable right from the beginning but it is worth watching.
It is funny. It is touching. 8/10
04-Apr-2004 02:20 PM
8/10
04-Apr-2004 02:27 PM
25-Apr-2004 08:21 PM
23-May-2004 07:30 PM

16-Jun-2004 08:57 PM

Aside from the plot, which was unbelievable at times and predictable as well,
this was a fun movie if you're looking for something light and entertaining to watch
. 8/10

Collateral
Tom Cruise plays the part of a hitman who hires a cab to take him to various places
one night to fulfill his contract. The unfortunate cab driver is played by award winner and
former "In Living Colors" star, Jamie Foxx. An intense, violent movie awaits those
who watch this one with a bit of comedy to release some tension is in the mix also. A well
written and well thought out movie, although the ending
is kind of too contrived. Despite that, I recommend this film highly. 9/10

I, Robot
Will Smith stars in this futuristic thriller where he plays a cop
on the trail of a murder committed by a robot. If you're expecting to see an
original movie, then you've come to the wrong place. Watching this movie, it
seemed like it got bits and parts of scenes from other movies that you've seen
before. Although, highly budgeted and filled with special effects, the storyline
and plot isn't fresh so the movie only comes out as better than average. 7/10

Koma
Karena Lam and the director of "Inner Senses" team up again along with
Angelica Lee in this psychological thriller. I originally picked up the movie
thinking that it was a horror flick but soon found out that it is a movie which
deals with the urban legend of people removing kidneys from unsuspecting patients.
It not only deals with this but also a love triangle between these two stars and
their significant other. It has some gory scenes but it's nothing that we aren't
used to seeing when it deals with this genre. I've seen much better movies involving
this topic. For example, check out "Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance" or "Dirty Pretty Things".
In any rate, I didn't think it was an awful movie but it wasn't that great either.
7/10.
Movie reviews in depth will not be written anymore due
to there being better websites out in the information superhighway.
Besides, who reads my reviews anyways, hehe.
I might change my mind about this in the future but for the time being, this
site will not be updated. Thank you for your support. I will still continue
updating my movie ratings site though. Take care.
