POINT OF VIEW contains all original music created by Gordon Lee Weaver. The style of music on this disc is high energy, hard rocking alternative pop with plenty of  inspiration drawn from classic rock. The core of this sound consists of simple vocals surrounded by crunching electric rythm guitars, supported by booming electric bass guitar and driven by insistently powerful drum sounds. Most of the tunes  include furiously improvised rapid-fire guitar solos. The precise sonic impact of this music is sweetened with harmony vocals. Occasionally the tunes are embellished with orchestral sounds, synthesizers, acoustic guitars and other instruments
Epiphone G-310 guitar
Ibanez Roadstar guitar model RS-1300
Washburn N2 guitar

Boss DR-660 Drum Machine
The music on this CD grew from a desire to share ideas about setting goals, examining belief systems, questioning the status quo, discovering our misperceptions, recognizing our responsiblity for our circumstances, being able to change our lives and breaking free from conventionally accepted definitions of our limitations. Hopefully these thoughts will be delivered musically and become a larger part of a growing number of lives.

The lyrics were written with the intentions stated above. An acoustic guitar was used to craft the melodies that these lyrics seemed to suggest when spoken. Arrangements were built around these melodies. Recording started shortly thereafter. When the project seemed to be nearing completion a new technology became available. The implications of being able to affordably record directly into the pristine digital environment were overwhelming. A Roland VS-880 was purchased and all of the existing recordings were scrapped. The newly aquired creative opportunities made possible by the VS-880 were many. Just exploring the range of possibilties took an enormous amount of time. The extra clarity and precision of the device shed light on weaknesses in both musical performance and recording technique. These weaknesses were addressed by trial & error combined with obsessive critical attention to detail. The overall quality of the performances and the finished recording is much better than a home recording could ever hope to be when this project was started way back in 1994.

The instruments used were:

Washburn N2 electric guitar for all guitar leads and most of the rhythm guitar parts

Ibanez Roadstar elctric guitar for guitar synth controller
& some rythm guitar parts

Epiphone G-310 elctric guitar (with a Dimarzio Humbucker From Hell pickup) few rythm guitar parts

Tanara short scale electric bass guitar on about half of the tunes.

Ovation acoustic guitar can be heard occasionally.

Realistic (Radio Shack) analog synthesizer on a few tunes.

Realistic (Radio Shack) keyboard for about 3 seconds of organ sound on the 4th song.

Boss DR-660 drum machine was programmed
(sometimes played) to provide drum kit sounds.

Roland GR-50 Guitar Synth for tympani, harp,
orchestral, organ, bass guitar & other sounds.

Gizmos utilized:
E-bow & slide for the intro of the 2nd tune.

Ibanez Super Metal pedal, Boss Volume pedal and
much echo from VS-880 on 6th tune.

Crate TDP tube preamp for all guitar leads.

VS-880 for amp simulation on all rhythm guitar parts.

BBE 462 for brightening up most of the acoustic
guitars, kick drum & tom sounds.

VS-880 for compressor, de-esser, gate, EQ,
delay, reverb, pitch-shift, phasor & flanger.

Studio stuff:
VS-880 for all recording, digital editing
and automated mixing.

Sony A7 Digital Audio Tape recorder for final mixes.

TOA mini condenser microphone for all vocals and acoustic guitars.

Fostex 3013 patch-bay for connecting this and that.

Mackie 1202 mixer used for its microphone pre-amps.

Cerwin-Vega D-12 speakers for monitoring (NOT a good idea).

Radio Shack receiver to power the speakers
(it ended up in the dumpster).

AKG DF-240 headphones for hearing details that would sneak by a quiet mouse.

Interestingly, all of the music and concepts on this CD (
LYRICS, vocals and instruments) were composed, performed and recorded  at home by just one person...Gordon Lee Weaver.
