Nick sat in the studio and turned in his chair. Howie looked over at him when he sighed loudly,
“What’s wrong Nicky?” He continued to look up at the ceiling,
“Nothing just bored; how much longer?” Howie shrugged and nodded his head at the sound booth,
“Soon as Kevin gets his part then you do yours and we’re done.” Nick sighed and looked into the booth,
“Great, we’ll be here all night.” Howie shook his head at him,
“Cut it out.” Nick laughed and stood up to stretch. He was tired of Sweden, it had been a week and a half and the excitement of being there had worn off; he was ready to get back home.
He was sitting in his room going through his suitcase when there was a knock on the door. He walked over and opened the door to see AJ standing there; he nodded his head at him and walked back into the room. AJ picked up the remote and flipped through the channels,
“There’s nothing on.” Nick laughed as closed his suitcase and put it on the floor,
“Yeah there is; just nothing you understand.”
“So, did you and Shayna talk?” Nick smiled,
“Yeah, we talked.” AJ laughed,
“It was that good huh?” He shrugged,
“It always is.” He had no intentions of telling AJ that he and Shayna weren’t really together; AJ had loose lips to say the least. He sighed and stood up as there was another knock on the door and his face couldn’t hide the surprise of seeing Kevin standing there with a pizza box in his hand,
“Hey little bro, you don’t look happy to see me.” Nick smiled,
“Nah, I’m just giving you a hard time.” He hugged Kevin and stepped aside allowing him to enter the room. They just seemed to have that type of relationship; if one was irritated with the other then all was well.
They were sitting around eating when AJ looked over at Kevin,
“Dude, did Nick tell you about him and Shayna?” Nick’s attention was now off his pizza and on AJ. Please, he thought, don’t say anything else. Kevin nodded as he chewed his pizza,
“I think its great. I still can’t believe it though, that wasn’t much time.” AJ shook his head and smiled,
“Hey man I give good advice, I knew they would get back together.” Kevin looked over at Nick,
“You’re back together? I thought you guys were just friends.” Nick shook his head and tried to save himself but AJ was too quick,
“Man, where did you get that from? They slept together.” Nick’s eyes widened,
“AJ would you shut up.” AJ looked over at him a little confused,
“Why? You don’t want anyone to know?” Kevin shook his head,
“He doesn’t want anyone to know that he’s being used.” Nick’s eyes flashed in anger at Kevin,
“I’m not being used.” Kevin snorted,
“How do you figure that? She has a new boyfriend and-“ AJ shook his head and waved his hands,
“WHAT? She has a boyfriend and you’re sleeping with her? I never figured Shayna to be like THAT.” Nick jumped up and stood over AJ,
“She’s not like THAT. Whatever the fuck that’s supposed to mean.” AJ looked up at Nick,
“Chill out dude.” Kevin took another bite of his pizza,
“Of course she’s using you. She doesn’t want to be with you but she likes the sex. Her new boyfriend must not be as good as you.” Nick shook his head and sat back down,
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” Kevin sighed,
“Yeah? I’m willing to bet money her new boyfriend isn’t doing it for her.” AJ leaned back in his chair,
“I can’t believe you are letting her use you like this.” Nick just sat there shaking his head as he crossed his arms. Kevin stood up and tried to tousle Nick’s hair but he moved away,
“Look baby, I’m not trying to make you feel bad or make you mad but come on, you know the game, its just about sex.” He walked out of the room and Nick looked over at AJ with an annoyed expression,
“Oh, you want me to leave?” Nick answered him with a sneer and AJ laughed wryly and stood up. Before he closed the door he turned and looked at Nick,
“Dude, I’m all about sex but not with someone you have to sneak around about it and on THEIR terms.” Nick stretched out on the couch and closed his eyes, they simply didn’t understand. She wasn’t using him, they both just wanted to be together and this was the way. It was both of their terms, he didn’t want a relationship and he didn’t feel used. It was what he wanted.
