Bluejay

I love the bright blue plumage mixed with the clean white and rich black on the blue jay. These large North American birds are a pleasure to watch as they swoop through woodlands and make short stops, like this perch in rural areas. This setting came from the same barn as portrayed in my painting, "Two T's Manitoulin. The weathered fence and barn board made the perfect drab, but natural backdrop for such a vibrant bird. A small amount of foliage, a spider and the tiny ladybugs in the painting give a clue to the abundance of nature, close at hand. The sky, reflected in the window, is a symbolic representation of the bird's element and natural advantage over man.
