The Old Way
This print shows a piece of prairie history. The image is kept alive in many farm communities as they celebrate with a nostalgic summer ritual called "a threshing bee" Old farm machinery and vehicles are put on working display for townsfolk and tourists to enjoy. I found the basis for this painting at such a threshing bee at Roleau Saskatchewan. Since there were no grain elevators in the background I imported these from another location to make a generic display of the "bee". Many of the old wooden grain elevators are being demolished and replaced with huge cement silos. The west is changing and the " Old way "is a reminder of the days when the family farm was the norm in the west.
