In the past, there have been a myriad of inquiries made on a host of venues from people seeking "help." They want to know how to find a master, where to look for a slave, how to serve, or what ceremonies to use for collaring. More often than not, it appears as if the romance of a master/slave relationship is the focus instead of how to apply the Gorean philosophy to oneself. But it's not how to serve, what to say, etc., that needs to be answered, it's what's inside, who we truly are.
I'm not saying one has to be "complete" to have a relationship with another, just that the inner foundation be strong and true before adding to it. Get off the computer and look to reality. Find the books, read them, look beyond the story, and take notes. Slavery is a societal condition on a fictitious planet. Time and again, though, John Norman emphasized the heart, what was inside the person, breaking away from Earth's conditioning and being true to one's nature.
Looking for answers to surface issues is akin to styling your hair to heal appendicitis. It's not the externals which need to be addressed, it's improving and accepting who we are as individuals. Working from the inside out clarifies which path should be taken. When these issues are faced, it's easier to bypass the side trips that would otherwise put a snag in personal growth.
A lot of self examination needs to be done which takes time, maturity, honesty, and oft times pain. It requires courage, change, and going against the "accepted/expected norm." This is what makes a person "Gorean" and holds true for all individuals, regardless of status.
The best thing is, there's no rush. Take it slow and enjoy the journey.
