The Christmas Lullaby

Betty S. Jordan ~ Harold Timmons

(1) Oh Holy child of Bethlehem on that first Christmas morn',
As Mary held her little boy, for her Christmas child was born;
Angels had spoken of His birth, as they looked down from on high,
They must have heard Mary sing, as she sang the Christmas lullaby.

(2) As Mary looked upon her child, the time had fully come,
The joy she felt within her heart at the birth of God's own Son;
She cradled him within her arms, I just wonder if He cried,
Or did He fall fast asleep, as she sang the Christmas lullaby.

(Chorus) Sing a Christmas lullaby to every girl and boy,
Tell them that Christ is born, sing the lullaby with joy;
In a stable long ago, beneath the starry sky,
Mary held her baby close and sang the Christmas lullaby.

(Tag) Rock-a-bye, baby Jesus, rock-a-bye, don't you cry,
Mary held her baby close as she sang the Christmas lullaby.
