Jane Doe's Raglan Sweater

SIZE: 18" chest, 5-10 LB(20" chest, 3-6 months)

Materials
4 oz sport weight yarn(4 oz Worsted Weight yarn)
Size 10 1/2 circular needle-staight will work also, it's just more comfortable on circulars
Size 8 straight needles for ribbing
1 Stitch holder or spare straight needle
6 markers or spare yarn to mark places with

(Note: Use the materials that are in parenthesis to make the larger size.)

(Note: Inc consist of knitting in front and back of specified st)

(Note: You only work the inc on the RS, meaning the K rows, not the purl rows)

Pattern Stitch:

ALL WS ROWS: Purl across pattern section
Row 2: K2tog, k2, yo, k1, yo, k2, sl 1, k1, psso, p1, k1, p1.
Row 4: K2tog, k1, yo, k3, yo, k1, sl 1, k1, psso, p1, k1, p1.
Row 6: k2tog, yo, k5, yo, sl 1, k1, psso, p1, k1, p1.
Repeat for desired number of patterns

Yoke

Row 1-3:
With sz. 8 needles, Cast on 48-K 2 rows. Continue 3rd row as K row across while placing markers as written below:

Work9 sts, Place marker(PM), Work7, PM,
[Work3, PM, Work 9, PM, work 4, pm,(section for pattern stitch) ]
Work7, PM, Work9. Switch stitches to 10 1/2 needle.

Row 4:
K4, k to 1 st before marker, inc, sl marker, inc,
k to 1 st before marker, inc, sl marker, inc,
K to next marker, sl marker, Work row of pattern stitch, sl marker,
k to 1 st before marker, inc, sl marker, inc.
K to 1 st before marker, inc, sl marker, inc.
K to last 3 sts, (YO, k2tog, k1)buttonhole. ONLY WORK EVERY 5 RIDGES ON GARTER ST BAND HEREAFTER.

Row 5(and ALL WS):
K4, Purl to last 4 sts, K4

Rep Row 4 and Row 5 until the row count matches below:(136 sts)

Continue increasing ONLY in front and back section. DO NOT increase anymore in the sleeve section but continue slipping markers (29sts still in sleeve section) until front sections contain 21 sts and back section has 40sts. End with purl row.

Sleeves:

• K across first front, Remove marker, place worked sts on spare needle or st holder. K across 1st sleeve section. TURN, P across sleeve section.(29sts)

Work back and forth in stockinette st on sleeve section until it measures 5" from end of raglan inc. K2tog in middle of K row, Change to size 8 needles and work 1" of garter st(k every row). Cast off, leave tail.

• Place sts that are on holder back on circular, attatch yarn and K across back (40sts), sl marker and K across sleeve. Place 2nd front stitches on holder. TURN, P across sleeve section only.

Work back and forth in stockinette st on sleeve section until it measures 5" from end of raglan inc. K2tog in middle of K row, Change to size 8 needles and work 1" of garter st(k every row). Cast off, leave tail.

• Place sts that are on holder on other end of circular and attatch yarn and K across 2nd front .

BODY

Continue with 10 1/2 needles in stockinette stitch (K 1 row, P 1 row) with pattern stitch continueing down back with K4 border at the beg and end on every row until body is desired length or 5 1/2" from underarm and a pattern rep is complete.

Knit 4 rows. Fasten off. Weave in ends, Sew sleeve seam.
