Cyn*o*sure "melodramatic tragedy" cassette, $3.50 |

I wanted to write a really great description for both this tape and the Liggie Wog EP because I think that these people and especially Eleanor in particular show the fierceness and depth that "today's youth" can embody but I just couldn't capture the songs or make you want to get them enough with *my* words and really I'm kind of shitty at describing the way a band/song sounds technically so I'm just going to use Eleanor's words to describe these if that's alright with you. Here they are: Glamorous, grammatical rock and roll of the guitar/drums variety. Girl vocals a la 80's British punk and vintage organ for emphasis. Love letters never sent and late night cups of coffee. Hand stamped and sewn covers. |

Liggie Wog cassette EP, $3.50 The last 7 songs from Liggie Wog, featuring Ned from Snowfort on bass. These spunky (mutant*) pop songs, complimented with keyboards and girl/boy vocals are perhaps Liggie Wog's best yet and have taken on even more depth and spunk. Lavender vellum covers. *"mutant pop" in my opinion because it sounds nothing like the "pop" music you see on television/in the media these days. This stuff is *real*. Real feeling, real singing. No implants, choreographers, or microphones to "help you" sing on key. :) |
*More* great independently released music coming to Basement Freak's D.i.Y Distro soon....keep checking back to this page. :) |
Jen Jones' experimental recordings vol.1: This world of Love and War cassette $3.50 |
This is a unique and thought-provoking noisecore/experiment in sound cassette dealing with the theme of war, conformity, government control and the spirit of the moment and passion. Jen, the creator of Just Another fool/Old Machines split blends radio and chosen music along with sound clips from discussions about war and the US gov't into this compelling piece of audio work. Cost covers shipping and the cost of a blank tape. The picture and tape shown are an example. Each tape will look different and therefore, unique. |

Saigrob Ichelan: The Poncho Sanchez Project cassette tape, $3.50 (price includes the cost of the tape and to help w/postage) |
This is what i would call 'intellectual electronica' or thoughtfully simplistic experimental electronic sounds and phat beats...hard to explain but definitely good music for working on your zine or any other artistic endaevors. Basically it's excellent background music OR you could turn it up and groove to it more intently, really it could work both ways. The album title is basically a concept. The album is basically sounds portraying a spectrum of emotions as portrayed from the eyes/mind/music based thoughts of a fictional character named Poncho Sanchez. It's like if this unknown but somehow still intriguing person's life had a soundtrack. Interesting concept and ear pleasing music. :) A different sound than what you might expect that a punk rock kid would enjoy but hey, that's the fun! (the diversity of sounds, styles) And of course it's 100% d.i.y and you don't have to worry that you're giving your hard earned and/or sparse money to some fat & greedy record company. yay! 'saigrob' makes the tapes himself and the tape covers are painted various colors, each copy of the tape is unique and hand-crafted/decorated. |
